DPMS large frame AR308 Polishing a turd (trouble shooting with solutions)

I have seen this very issue with a few AR10 platform 80% lowers. The mag catch itself can be on the small side and the inlet in the receiver for the mag catch can be too low from the deck to hold the mag high enough to reliably feed rounds from the mag. Higher quality parts kits will contain...

    300 WM ES spread issue

28 inch barrel. Getting approx. 2950 with 77.0 and 3040ish (can't remember right now) with 78.4. Loaded to 3.600 long. That's .010 off the lands. With that much powder the magnum primer might give you more uniform ignition. I have not tried standard primers as these are working great and I might...

DPMS large frame AR308 Polishing a turd (trouble shooting with solutions)

Wow.....covering all the normal places to look. You said the crown was good to go. Did you slug the barrel for major diameter (groove diameter). Just grasping at straws now :D

DPMS large frame AR308 Polishing a turd (trouble shooting with solutions)

Ok.....you lapped receiver face.....bedded barrel extension into receiver. How was the barrel extension to barrel thread fit???? If those threads are loose, doesn't matter if you torqued nut to 150fp, the barrel is still going to have some wiggle.

DPMS large frame AR308 Polishing a turd (trouble shooting with solutions)

Soft bolt is definitely an issue with only 120 rounds thru it. I'd guess that the barrel nut is not fully securing the barrel tightly enough into the receiver. The barrel extension to receiver fit may be sub-par as well. I've found that lapping the front face of the receiver takes a lot of the...

Change in Brass = Increased Pressure?

softer brass might explain the appearance of higher pressure, but the pierced primer doesn't fit that theory.

    10mm powder

I use Blue Dot. It is a great powder for the 10mm. Very good velocities and clean burning. I don't load 200gr but works great for 155 & 180. Get ready for a great big bright white fire ball. :D

    Bolt Gun and Gas Gun

Much more latitude in powder selection with a bolt gun and possibly more velocity (flatter trajectory) that way.

Bolt won't close on new rifle

I agree with Terry on this. You can see the VERY short taper the lands, but this even looks too short for a typical 1'30" degree cut and there is NO freebore section at all.
