    1,004 Yard shooting (310GR .338 buldozers)

Re: 1,004 Yard shooting (310GR .338 buldozers) Ok. now I see. He used 26 moa, not 25. That would put me between .940-.970 somewhere. It was a long night at work, and I'm not quite with it this morning.... I'm going to bed. more tests later.

    1,004 Yard shooting (310GR .338 buldozers)

Re: 1,004 Yard shooting (310GR .338 buldozers) Scratch everything I just said. I had assumed assumed Bigdaddy dialed up 25 moa from a 200 yard zero, and since I posted that he's told me he was zeroed at 100. Back to my calculator now. I just punched the numbers into JBM quick, and had to use...

    1,004 Yard shooting (310GR .338 buldozers)

Re: 1,004 Yard shooting (310GR .338 buldozers) So far I only have the "calculated G1 B.C. for these bullets. All my calculations point to a G1 of around .940 This is a pretty rough number. This was calculated using a 14 caliber secant ogive design, but that isn't what is on the bullet. It...

    50cal bullet design...

Re: 50cal bullet design... I never said it wasn't worth going after. My own bullets currently use a Von Karman. I actually asked the question because I calculated the b.c. of them using a secant ogive, then I changed it to the Von Karman, and they shoot WAY flatter than what I had calculated...

    Fieldcraft Silence after the shot

    50cal bullet design...

Re: 50cal bullet design... Any idea how much the B.C. would be impacted by using a Von Karman ogive in place of the simple radius?

    dryfiring question

Re: dryfiring question I took an old case that I culled, seated a culled bullet in it, and shot the primer pocket full of blue RTV silicone. My own snap cap. Gives my firing pin something to land against, but is soft, and doesn't seem to wear out.

30 cal bergers, jump em or jam them?

Re: 30 cal bergers, jump em or jam them? I'm shooting the 185's from my .300 Wby, with a standard Wby freebore. They are jumping about a mile or so, and I'm getting about 1/2 moa from them. I think it just depends on what your rifle wants. I'm loading VLD's to magazine length in the .300. and...

    solid turned bullets for 308

Re: solid turned bullets for 308 Yes, one can not expect to save money making your own out of solid copper. Copper prices are insane right now.

    solid turned bullets for 308

Re: solid turned bullets for 308 Straight copper. HO4 full hard. Sorry, the design is top secret. They are 200gr., and drop data shows G1 b.c. to be just a hair over .7. Testing is ongoing. When all testing is complete they may be available for public sale. Unfortunately, with material...

    solid turned bullets for 308

Re: solid turned bullets for 308 I've been turning my own for about the last year or so. There are a few advantages to be had with a fast .30 cal, and a 1-10" twist. None of the big manufacturers makes a bullet that fully takes advantage of the 10" twist rate. I've gotten better b.c.'s than...

Dial Caliper- where to start. + Newbie Stuff.

Re: Dial Caliper- where to start. + Newbie Stuff. For a really good EBAY deal, you can look for a 70th anniversary Mitutoyo set. It will come in a wood case, velvet lined, with a digital mic, and standard block for checking accuracy. They can sometimes be found for as little as just a caliper.

Dial Caliper- where to start. + Newbie Stuff.

Re: Dial Caliper- where to start. + Newbie Stuff. I agree 100% with the Mitutoyo, and Brown & Sharpe. I tend to lean towards the Mitutoyo. You can get by with the cheap Chinese for reloading, but they will not be of the quality of the above names. Spend a couple years working in a machine...

    Range Report A-Max b.c.

Re: A-Max b.c. It figures, I post yesterday, and got a response from another source today from someone with Litz's book in hand. "A-max BCs: G1 - .633, G7 - .324." Thanks for all your responses guys. I think I can call it close enough for the shooting I do.......Which I'm pretty sure will...

    Range Report A-Max b.c.

Does anybody know if the b.c. stated by Hornady for the 208 gr. A-Max is accurate? I know Bryan Litz lists real world b.c.s for several bullets in his book. (which I don't have yet)I was just wondering if it's listed, or if Hornady's number is close.

My $60,000 case trimmer, VID ADDED

Re: My $60,000 case trimmer haha HA HA HA! That's funny. I thought I was the only one to do such a thing. Now I can go shoot without having a tired arm from trimming brass. If you get bored, they make great primer pocket uniformers too! Trim, chamfer, deburr, then re set up, and uniform...
