    Short 308 Diminishing returns

Yeah I happened to find it just by scrolling Eurooptic. Couldn't figure out the thread size, but if I were in the market for a hunting rifle... I'd do something like that.

    Short 308 Diminishing returns

Check out the Tikka Drover model specifically! Iron sights, CTR 10 round Magazine, threaded barrel (not sure of pattern). Looks like a sweet model

    Recommended Optics

Under $1200 (I haven't bought an optic in this price range for quite a while) - Meopta Optika6 5-30x56. My brother bought one and we've been really impressed with the optical quality of it being a sub $1000 option. Others tend to agree. Think he paid like $700 for a "like new" sample. - At...

Is this a good setup for a new guy?

If you haven't seen this video already, it does a good job at assessing a similar "kit" like the one you are considering: They (the channel) also have a website and online courses too if thats something you're looking into. Edit: Add the Hornady Headspace Comparator to your list too if you...

Precision 6.5 CM - What would you change about my process?

#1) Following the basic "How to setup" FL instructions aka thread the die to the shell holder +1/8 to 1/4 turn often oversizes the brass (too much work being done) which can even lead to case head separation. Hornady makes a Headspace Comparator set for low $ that works with most calipers...

    Weird question regarding FL sizing

What press are you using? Edit: Nevermind, I can't read

Precision 6.5 CM - What would you change about my process?

Run an actual test yourself between "weight sorted brass" and non weight sorted brass, all other variables being equal. Make sure to use a large enough sample size to be statistically significant, results will likely surprise you and make you wish you didn't waste time weight sorting brass.

Precision 6.5 CM - What would you change about my process?

#1) What's your setup procedure for your Full Length (FL) sizing die? Are you measuring headspace via comparator on once fired brass before and after sizing? Or better yet: testing a sized piece of brass in your gun? #2) Like others have already mentioned, remove the expander ball or the...

    First rifle

Howa 1500 heavy barreled action from Brownells is the lowest cost option I'd personally go. Wait for them to be on sale or find a good coupon code and you can get them under $400. Heavy barrel, threaded muzzle, usable trigger... You'll need a stock or chassis and a picatinny rail to finish it...

Plumb line distance when mounting a scope?

This is a good method for leveling a scope physically to a rail, but shouldn't solely be relied on for alignment to gravity. Remember, one should always confirm actual with a tall target test like the video below and adjust accordingly. Otherwise you're leveling just for esthetic reasons...

    Another caliber selection post

Yes 6 CM will have more recoil than the 6 Dasher/GT, simple physics. Same bullet being pushed faster via more powder = more recoil. Should be a little softer than 6.5 CM depending on load. Honestly the PRB link you have in your first post spells it out... Any of these calibers will be...

    Another caliber selection post

My vote: 6 Creedmoor Won't have to worry about feeding issues (use AW mags with your CDG, not AICS) and you can walk into most any big gun store and find factory ammo for it. Buy 6 CM in bulk online and focus on the important stuff like fundamentals and actually shooting the thing! You can...

    Remington 700 Upgrade Suggestions

To add to everything already listed: I would do a deep dive and disassemble everything and also clean out the barrel/chamber well. Double check for irregular contact points between the stock, bolt, trigger, barrel, bottom metal, action screws and bolt interference, etc... Then clean threads and...

    New rifle advice

Tikka T3X or Howa 1500's are about the only "factory" rifles I'd personally buy in that price range. Howa barreled action from Brownells in a stock/chassis of your choice or a Tikka CTR in a stock/chassis of your choice is a common route people take. I've had good success with both options...

Is this acceptable for a high end ring manufacturer?

Whoops my bad, I re-read the post where OP asked for calculation. OP was specifically asking about the calculation that doesn't matter. This is correct, I edited my original post

Is this acceptable for a high end ring manufacturer?

Above is correct, if you are looking only at the horizontal offset of the scope and bore. (Which won't matter much) But what really matters (and is the reason people put levels on their gun) is below.
