First Bolt Action Rifle Purchase Advice

I thought ANSI tolerance stuff was B4.X? Do you mean ASME Y14.5? Also what @LuvDog said can make sense, Tikkas generally have tight enough tolerance that you can buy shouldered pre-fit barrels. Using tolerance in that context makes sense. OP: Howa or Tikka gets my vote

    6.5 creedmoor rifle

@ColdBarrelZero brings up a good point. Is 4k your total budget? Have you thought about peripheral equipment and ammo? If you're truly brand new, you may even consider attending a well respected training course. That'll expedite the f@#k out of your abilities and understanding. Edit: Also...

Want muzzle brake for tikka ctr cal 223

No problem, all I did was link someone else's work! Note: That 1-3% figure is his results for the calibers and rifles he tested, not absolute across the board for other rifles/calibers. (But it still suggests that the improvement of a caliber specific brake is very small) It would be cool if...

Want muzzle brake for tikka ctr cal 223

The precision rifle blog posted some of his collected data on muzzle brakes. https://precisionrifleblog.com/2015/08/21/muzzle-brake-summary-of-field-test-results/ If you scroll down a bit he only recorded a 1-3% difference in recoil between using a caliber specific brake vs a larger caliber...

Anyone know where I could get a stock for FN PBR?

Have you called Mcmillan? Just order direct through them. Midwest Gun Works use to have spare Mcmillan stocks for FN rifles, super cheap too. You used to be able to get a FN SPR action for around $300 and a Mcmillan stock for it around $300 too.. wish I would have picked a few up.

Cutting and Threading a Tikka Barrel.

Just be aware that the lite contour is pretty thin and you might not be able to get the thread pattern that you want. That's part of the reason why a lot of these people are cutting their barrels back to 18" were it's thicker. Since you have a fluted model I'm not sure if that option is viable...

.223 Wylde or 5.56 bolt action

I bet any factory .223 will be fine shooting 5.56. I wouldn't worry too much.

    Tikka T3x Lite muzzle threading

If you haven't bought a Lite yet you could look into the newer Tikka rifles: Roughtech or Veil. They have the Tikka's new "D18" contour where it comes thread 5/8x24, with a fluted barrel and bolt.

PSA: Don't let your bolt gun fall with the bolt open while cleaning it. **UPDATE: FIXED**

The allure has always been for the ability to change bolt faces. I could be wrong, but that and other small changes like: extractor, better shroud, and fire control(?) plus the limited availability of factory bolts have been the main reasons for development.

LRI Direct Replacement Tikka T3 bolts

They are all the same (there's subtle differences between the T3 and T3X, like the ejection port) The reason Manners has CTR separate is because of the difference in bottom metal vs standard T3 inlet.

Building of a new 223 Rifle

Yeah, absolutely! There's honestly not a lot of pieces involved. - Stainless Steel Tikka T3X CTR (.223 Rem, 24" length barrel, and 1-8 twist) - GRS Sporter stock, inleted for the Tikka CTR. My color is "Black", but they changed their colors around so the closest color now is "Nordic Wolf" -...
