    Tacticool TOZ

I like it Chris. I've always enjoyed vintage rifles. How's it shoot?

Why aren't more using the hmr in there tactical training rifle?

I like the nostalgia aspect of shooting my .22's with iron / aperture sights at the 200 yard A-21 target. Back in the late 1920's through the 1950's, my grand-dad use to shoot long range 20 shot .22 rimfire matches. He was pretty good at it. Of course he was a rifle instructor for the Army...

Do we need a "National Precision Rimfire Association"

It would be nice to see something like this come along and get organized. TP has laid out some good idea's. I especially like the idea of mixing paper with metal targets.

    ruger american rimfire

I'm leaning pretty heavily towards one. From what I've read and seen of this rifle, I pretty much like everything about it, though I wish the trigger could be adjusted lower then a 3 pound pull. I expect we'll see some fix for this eventually. I like the fact that it's 100% American made, and...

    Savage Markll FV-SR Help

You shouldn't need a 20 or 25 MOA scope base to shoot 100 yards, regardless of what base it comes with. You are most likely looking at one inch rings I believe (don't know for certain) with the base it comes with. Perhaps someone will confirm this.

    22lr ammo

After reading the December 2013 American Rifleman article on ammo shortages, they do indeed put the ammo shortage into prospective. We're going to have to ride out the supply in demand for all the new gun owners we've picked up over the last two plus years. I'll try to find the link to the...

    Marlin/Glenfield 25 grouping problems

The only Marlin's I've not had to shim are the vintage (Pre 1950) Model 80's. The 1964 Sears & Roebuck Mod. 80 (which surprised me), and the 925, both needed shimmed. There really is no comparison between the quality of workmanship from most vintage rifles as compared to today's manufacturing...

Which way to go...10/22 or CZ bolt?

I voted other, and will say that I feel that the Savage MKII BVT is one of the most accurate .22lr bolt action rimfire rifle's I've ever shot that comes in at a good price. Nothing against the CZ, I've read to many good things about them. I can only vote on what I have experience with and I...

    5 shots 200 yards!?!

Six seconds a shot. Once zeroed you should have no problem.

What Steel Targets are you using for 100 and 200 Yards?

They really didn't hold up like I hoped they would. Also, once all the washers, bolt & nut, and other hardware to mount them, they weren't cost effective. A three inch target from quality Targets was actually cheaper. I've been using A-36 Steel, but I agree that the AR500 is the way to go...

Thanks Hide; check out these first range results!

Thank you JIF on behalf of the Husker Nation for the kind words. I'm actually a transplant (originally from Ohio) but I do enjoy both NU & OSU football. My wife and daughter have been to a couple of games in Lincoln. When it comes to College Basketball, I have always enjoyed watching KSU. I...

Oct 2013 SH Short Range Rimfire Competitions

Have not tried it at 100 yards. I've seen on youtube that a couple of guys have shot these from 25 yards. It's not as easy from 50 yards as one may think. Give the 50 yard a try and see what you think.

Are Air rifles the pacifier or alternative to ammo availability & cost?

I decided to jump into the pellet rifle shooting with the Ruger Air Hawk. Ordered one today through where I work and should have it next week some time. Also ordered some 7.9 and 10.? grain pellets that Pyramid Air said worked good with this particular pellet rifle. I also shot my friend's...

    22lr ammo

This article may very well have some merit to it. Over 100 million gun owners in America - I doubt that this accounts for the number of youth shooters who we buy firearms and ammo for when mentoring them in the shooting sports. If 100 million folks are buy ammo for not only themselves, but...

Congrats, TP... 4000 posts is a lot of posts and you've had some very interesting and informative one's for sure! Keep up the good work!

    Iron sights at 200 yds.

Taking the .22lr out to 200 yards does seem to surprise many folks. I think it also creates quite a bit of interest in doing it as well. By all means, scope that rifle and enjoy the long range rimfire sport. We know it's a lot of fun!

    22 Ammo

Hard to get it where I live as well. I'm content shooting my flintlocks while this crap is going on. Hell, I've probably shot my muzzle loaders more then anything else over the last 35 years. Still, it does get old not seeing the .22lr and other rimfire ammo, available. And, it's not just...

    Iron sights at 200 yds.

IMHO, for 200 yards and iron sights, that is not bad. I took my Savage MKII FVT with the peep sights it came with, out to 200 yards a few years ago to see if I could match my grand-dad's shooting with iron sights that he did back in 1929 (when 200 yards was common with iron) and I really...

Please explain .22 hoarding to me????

I have heard that California is going to ban lead in the year 2018. Any truth to this?
