Federal Auto Match .22lr - Anyone Using It In Their 10/22?

I picked up some Federal Auto Match about a year ago with the intent of using it in my Ruger 10/22, but have yet to give it a try. I'll probably test it this coming Wednesday Sept. 18th, but in the mean time I was just wondering if anyone had used any of this ammo, and what they thought about...

    .22 lr ammo???

I have not actually experienced any of this as yet. However,,, the ammo you name above as being dirty (Rem. GB's & Thunderbolt) have always been dirty ammo. The Winchester (from my own experience) has been hit and miss for a long time. They just can't seem to get it right anymore for some reason?

First camo job, Savage MK II FV-SR

Check out Trevor's last two sentences in his post. I think that's what he's referring to? Marking his scope turret for 3 different loads so he can dial in depending on which round he is using at the time? I think that's it?

First camo job, Savage MK II FV-SR

Looks good. I do like the, 3 - .22lr load zeroing on one scope idea.

    .22 lr ammo???

I visit another forum off and on and the word folks are using there for those hoarding ammo is, (Scalpers). Yes, scalpers... These are pecker heads who created most the ammo shortages and are now trying to get out from under it because they've either maxed out their credit cards, or they see...

Raising the comb on Savage Mark II BV

I used one of those heavy foam pool noodles kids use to float with, and just cut it with my metal shears. I cut the pvc with a hack saw.

Raising the comb on Savage Mark II BV

Here's a picture of what I did. It ain't pretty, but it works.

Raising the comb on Savage Mark II BV

On my MKII FVT, I built it up with foam and a 1/2 piece of 1-1/4" PVC (cut in half about 5.5" long, and taped it on to the top of the comb, then covered it with some camo material I had on hand. I think there are several here who have done a similar fix. I'll post a picture.

Boyds Tacticool or Thumbhole Stock For Savage MKII

Thanks again Yoteman. That may be just the deal breaker. I can give up the thumbhole for a similar grip feel. Thanks again!

Boyds Tacticool or Thumbhole Stock For Savage MKII

Thank you Yoteman. Another thing I had not thought of (as you mentioned), the weak hand side / support side shooting. Question: Does the Tacticool & Thumbhole stocks have a similar "angel type feel" in the "pistol" grip area? From the pictures at Boyds, it appears they should have a similar...

Boyds Tacticool or Thumbhole Stock For Savage MKII

Thanks for the info, Futurerider103. I had not thought about the bottom notch for the rear bag on the tacticool stock. That would be a plus for matches that allow the rear bag.

Boyds Tacticool or Thumbhole Stock For Savage MKII

Question... For those of you that have both (or have used both) the Boyds Tacticool & Thumbhole stock's for the Savage MKII,,, which do you prefer, and why? What is the advantage of one over the other? I'm thinking of restocking my MKII-FVT. I have shot the Thumbhole stocked MKII (my son's...

    [Film] "long range" .22lr

Thanks for the video, Bevan. Enjoyed it. Like you, I too need more time off from work so I can "sharpen" or "re-sharpen" some shooting techniques. Tomorrow will be my day to get some range time in while shooting some of the SH Rimfire Matches. Again, enjoyed the video.

Sept 2013 SH Long Range Rimfire Competitions

Good to be back, Top Predator. I haven't been shooting much lately. I'm guessing I'm not the only one since this ammo situation hit us with the shortages. However, I have a good feeling that things are about to turn around and ammo will be available soon. I hope! In any event, it's time to...

    Long distance .22LR - 300 yards 9/1/13

Wow! I run the same scope at 200 yards on my Savage MKII FVT, with a 20 MOA base, using sub-sonic ammo. I wonder, would a 25 MOA base get you out to 300 with the sub-sonic stuff?

Sept 2013 SH Long Range Rimfire Competitions

Hi friends... It's time to get back into the game with some long range .22lr... It's been awhile. Thanks for your work in doing this for the hide, TP. [I'll use this post to "post" my results of the Matches I enter this month.] Here are my results for the following SH Long Range Matches...

    22 LR ammo

Your probably right, Big Jim! Whenever a manufacturer can get away with less quality control - yet sell a larger volume of their product in the process,,, I doubt we'll ever see any decent QT again for a very long time. Chances are, it won't happen in the rest of my lifetime. How sad... Not...
