Selecting the right 6mm creedmoor barrel

The 5r is only available on a 7-twist. If I go with an 8-twist, the choices are 6 groove, 3r or 3 groove. Bob

Selecting the right 6mm creedmoor barrel

My Tikka T3x donor rifle has come in and I'm ready to order a barrel. X-Caliber is having a sale so, given that they seem to get good reviews, I think I'm going to order from them. This will be my first 6creed so I'm looking for some advice on barrel selection. The range where I will do most of...

New Winchester Staball 6.5 ball powder

Okay guys, I have far less experience in load development than most of you. I used to load for my .308 and the wife's .223 several years ago but, I've only shot factory stuff the last five years or so. I've got a Tikka T3x CTR in 6.5cm with a 24" factory barrel. It shoots Hornady American Gunner...

    Tikka T3 Thread

The T3x Lite (blued) in 6.5cm went on sale yesterday at GrabAGun for $535 so I jumped on it. It's going to be my donor for a 6mm Creedmoor build. Bob

Accessories WTT My Tikka T3x single stage trigger for your 2-stage

Hey, TAC A1 guys! Like it says in the title, my single stage for your 2-stage. I'd even be willing to kick in $50. My trigger is a brand new take off and yours should be in good condition. We each cover shipping. ETA- ...or I would be willing to buy your 2-stage outright! Bob

Best 6mm Creedmoor option for around $1500

Okay, I stand corrected. I thought it was the double stack mags that the note was referencing. That does make the MPA an interesting option. Can anyone tell me if those MDT mags work with the Seekins Havak Bravo as well? I do feel a bit like a Tikka fanboy but, I'm not completely closed off to...

Best 6mm Creedmoor option for around $1500

Hmmm...as far as I can tell, those mags are not compatible with the MPA/Curtis 3-lug setup. Is this a setup you've tried? Bob

Best 6mm Creedmoor option for around $1500

That would be a cool way to go for sure. You've obviously put some thought into that. It's not about the quality of the ai mags; I'm just a fan of the double stack mags. Having 10 rounds in a short mag like the CTR's is just nice. I'm on the Tikka train for this one! Bob

Best 6mm Creedmoor option for around $1500

Here's what I'm thinking. These prices don't include tax or shipping but, are otherwise pretty accurate. I would install the prefit myself so there would be other costs associated with that. I don't have a barrel vise or action wrench yet and would need go/no-go gages. Honestly, I can afford to...

Doesn't look like anything on their website as far as I can tell. I still don't expect that they are junk though. Bob

Best 6mm Creedmoor option for around $1500

I'm very close to ordering a prefit barrel and a T3x Lite for a donor action. I figure selling a new takeoff 6.5cm barrel in the exchange could recoup some of the cost. The only thing holding me back from ordering is the announcement which, is probably a stupid reason. Building the gun I want...

    Tikka UPR - thoughts

The heavy barrels on the Varmint rifles are not threaded. My point was that they should have used the barrel that they already have on the Varmint and threaded it for the UPR. Bob

    Tikka UPR - thoughts

It doesn't sound like trash. Carbon fiber and fiberglass aren't a guarantee of a good stock but, I'd expect it's better than a lot of the factory offerings. I have to agree with wade2big, my CTR shot .7moa 5-shot groups out of the box. Might have done better if I'd adjusted the trigger but, I...

    Tikka UPR - thoughts

I think the new UPR stock was a good move on their part and making it available with a 20moa rail was also a good decision. Besides not offering the 2-stage trigger, their other big mistake was not using their existing varmint barrel and threading it. They have all the stuff they need right...
