Sterk handle/knob came in the mail today. Getting the factory handle off was a bear! There is no way they installed it by hand. Since this was my first time removing one, I was very concerned that I was doing something wrong. I watched a half a dozen videos on bolt disassembly and decided I was...

A small amount of bedding to support the space under the action screws should take care of it. Bob

This... ...and the fact that I feel bedding is over rated. Not that I think it is totally unnecessary but, a lot of rifles in cheap plastic stocks shoot very well with no bedding. I can say without a doubt that this B&C bedding block fits better than my XLR Element in R700 LA. Of course...

It is a CTR. It does not need to be bedded. The bedding block is pretty much the same as bolting into a chassis. I seriously considered the KRG Bravo but went this route because I prefer a more traditional style stock. I wouldn't say I dislike the skins-over-chassis concept but, I prefer a more...

    Tikka T3 Thread

My new B&C Medalist #6 stock arrived today. Not a lot out there on how these fit the Tikkas so I thought I'd share some pics. Two things I think are important to know; 1) The aluminum bedding block and recoil lug fit perfectly. I had to get the alignment exact to allow the receiver to fit down...

Remington 700 with timney 1.5 lb trigger

I have this rifle and with a Timney trigger an XLR chassis and a APA-FB brake, it still shoots like crap. I put about 40 rounds through it two years ago and decided it was a dog. Going to rebarrel it some day. Seriously thinking about changing it to 6.5PRC for reduced recoil. Bob

Feeling the need for a 6.5 Creed...moor. Recommendations please.

I went back and forth between the two. I think I will be happier with the B&C. After my XLR, I decided I'm not a chassis guy. I appreciate the utility and modularity but, I like the feel and density of a real stock. I have a B&C on my .308 and I've been pretty happy with it. They have a billet...

Feeling the need for a 6.5 Creed...moor. Recommendations please.

I was going to wait until I took this thing to the range before I started kitting it out. Since the weather today sucked and there wasn't much to do indoors, I found myself online with my credit card in hand. Ordered a Sterk swept back bolt handle and knob, a bolt decocking tool, a Bell &...

Weather here in DFW sucks today (like pretty much everywhere it seems). Nothing to do but surf the web and order parts for the new rifle. Sterk swept back handle/knob and a B&C Tactical Medalist #6 ordered. Where do you guys order the YoDave spring? Bob

Can I join the Tikka club now? Picked up this 6.5cm this morning. Pulled a scope and bipod off one of my rifles that never goes to the range. I've got two boxes of Hornady 140gr ELD-M and anxious to get out and shoot it. 2019-11-08_01-16-59 by Bob, on Flickr Bob

Gotta appreciate Grab-A-Gun. They called me an hour before they open this morning to let me know my purchase was approved. I had just enough time to get down to their store, pick up my rifle and get back to the house to meet up with my Christmas light installer. 2019-11-08_11-41-01 by Bob, on...

Drove down to pick up my new Tikka today from Grab-A-Gun (hour drive in pouring rain). Ended up coming home empty handed. I haven't updated the address on my carry license and came back as a hold. WTF? Not like I've been out committing crimes since my last purchase! Okay, I'm not going to get...

Feasibility- Remington 700 .300WM to remage barreled 6.5PRC

I've thought about that too. I just got an email that my new Tikka is ready to pick up so, for now, the scope is going to get switched over. I'm sure the XLR Element, Timney trigger and APA Fat Bastard would sell...and the Badger base. However, I have the interest in learning to smith these...

Feasibility- Remington 700 .300WM to remage barreled 6.5PRC

I feel pretty confident it is the factory barrel or a out-of-true receiver. Probably both! I've eliminated everything else. I also found I don't like the recoil of the .300WM, even with the brake. 20 years of humping a ruck has done in my shoulders. Bob

Feasibility- Remington 700 .300WM to remage barreled 6.5PRC

I've had a lot of ideas floating around in my head lately. A few years ago I wasted a fair bit of money building a .300WM LR target rifle based on a Remington 700SPS. The whole experience sucked. The rifle looked cool but, it shot like crap (big surprise) and at the end of a day of shooting I...

Do you think swapping to a remage barrel without truing the mating surface of the receiver and the bolt lugs/face, will still result in a significant improvement in performance? I've seen some videos about remage barrel swaps and the receivers/bolts usually look factory original. Bob
