Help Selecting an AR for "Service Rifle" Comp

Yep, each good is a different sized hole in it, so you swap them as required. I have done it with No change in zero at all. The CLE ones are shorter, the RRA are longer. A .042 is about right for most, and fine in just about any condition.

Help Selecting an AR for "Service Rifle" Comp

3-5k, some years even more. Either have barrels on hand or a few uppers... I couldn't shoot this much on one rifle. And only 1200-2000 or so in actual comps. And alot of dry firing. When you dry fire don't just snap in and clickkitty-klack the trigger over and over. Sit on your couch and...

Help Selecting an AR for "Service Rifle" Comp

BB, John Scandale at Keystoneacciraccy can pin sights and he is fast. Did my AR10 for LR in a week and it tracked a straight line for 80 clicks. Very reasonable too. Also usually has barrels and can build you an upper without the wait. Former All Guard shooter too. Trust me on the RRA, just get...

Best Powder for 6.5x47? Cant find 4350 or Varget

RE17 is the same burn rate as H4350 and users report highr velocity, although it is less temp stable. but it is a viable sub for H4350.

Help Selecting an AR for "Service Rifle" Comp

If you have to buy ammo, just get 1000 rds of Black Hills 77 grain match. It will work at all 3 ranges, you don't need 3 types of ammo. Guard Team we shoot 77's all the wy back. It does fine. that will give you 1000 pieces of brass to start reloading, and then its pretty easy to make 1000 rounds...

Help Selecting an AR for "Service Rifle" Comp

there are only a limited amount you can Mod and be legal, SR is dictated by a set of strict rules. Not alot of wiggle room. other than pinning the sights, you can do the rest in your basement with a vise. the trigger is a personal thing, but 2 stage dominates for reasons youll understand when...

Help Selecting an AR for "Service Rifle" Comp

out of the box the RRA AR15A2 NM is great. get the 1/4 minute sights, and expect an accurate life of 3500 rounds. It is capable of HM scores if you are. I have shot in the 780's with one once. I like the sights better than the Armalite, and the trigger is great too, the Gieselle being the only...

anyone use a 22-250 with 1/8 twist barrel?

the 90's are stabilizing fine for me in a 1-7.7 Krieger 20" barrel at 2900-2950, I know SR shooters running them in 1-7 Barrels at 2500... the 6.5 twist barrel myth doesent hold water to me. But you should try it and see if your combo will do it. I would bet it would..... the extra speed helps alot.

anyone use a 22-250 with 1/8 twist barrel?

Think more like a 90 VLD @ 3000 fps. the 1-8 will stabilize it in a bolt gun at that speed. I shoot a 22-6hagar in a AR15 and can get 77's to 3200 fps and 90's to 2950 easily and it is just under 22-250 performance. go to 6mmbr.com and look at the 22-250 cartridge guide.

    223/556 with IMR4198 or H4895 options

23.5 with 77's is what I use, best load to date. Your 1/9 will probably stabilize the 77, and almost definately stabilize the Hornady 75BTHP ( NOT AMAX) 1/9 AR's have troubles stabilizing, but most bolt guns do not, the extra speed and barrel length help. 24.2 H4895 with a 75 has been a great...

    223, 5.56 or Wylde, Twist/Build Q

I have a bolt gun with a CLE match chamber. It's basically a 223 body with a little more throat for the bigger bullets. 24 in brux 1-8. I like the chamber and even run it on my NM AR15. In the bolt gun I run 75 VLD's jumping .035 with 25.0 H4895 for 3100 fps. Best group so far has been .16...

My 223 only likes slow loads. Any recommendations???

23-24.0 H4895 with 77's should work great in that bolt gun. Another load I use in my bolt gun is the 75 Berger VLD jumping .035 with 25.0. H4895. 3025fps. My bolt gun has a 24in brux 1/8 and is generally a good shooter with my normal AR15 loads, but when I bumped it up a little it really woke...
