Re: New information on LMT barrel bolts and torque!!! Common "no torque" torque would be to tighten to resitance and use either 15degrees wrench arc torque, or 1/6 to 1/3 turn more past that point. This is whats used in similar applications on aircraft engines when no in/lb value is given...

    Tumbler media question

Re: Tumbler media question I went from corn cobb to the walnut lizard litter, and now I have a layer of walnut dust on everything within 5 feet of the tumbler, cases clean quick and nice but the dust is intolerable. I tried dryer sheets, car wax, even mineral spirits in it, and still dusty...

    20" .223 68Gr FPS?

Re: 20" .223 68Gr FPS? 25.3 is the accuracy load from Sierra for the 69, and its pretty close. I used to use 25.o H4895 with the 69 Sierra, and would get 3000 fps from a 20 in 1-8 wylde chambered wilson barrel. your speeds seem low a little.

    What lube is everyone using

Re: What lube is everyone using Kevin, I am with you on the mobil one and frog lube. I am slowly starting to migrate all the comp rifles over to the wintergreen wonder. The SR15 was the latest one to get stripped and treated. When the QD4 shows up we will see how it holds up to suppressor...

    just an idea pumice powder

Re: just an idea pumice powder I'm not sure I would want to introduce an abrasive into my reloading components. Pumice is not as fine as you would think. Rotten stone is much finer but will cut quite a bit. Walnut is more aggressive, but dusty. Just leave them in the corncob overnight. Won't...

    7.62x54R Loads?

Re: 7.62x54R Loads? Clark, You have any loads for the 174 sierra and H4895 in a Finn m 39? Going to switch to that from the 200 Lapua. Might take it to perry for the big vintage match. Not to Hijack your thread Greg. I looked through my notes, and 47.0 was a good load, but probably not...

    7.62x54R Loads?

Re: 7.62x55R Loads? Greg, I am a big fan of the H4895 in the X54. Using .308 125's and 150's I used 47.0 for both. I basically used midway between an upper end 308 load and a garand safe 30-06 load, as you have seen, no real data exists for the 4895 and this class of bullets. I do not...

    The M1 Garand Salvage Project

Re: The M1 Garand Salvage Project if you read any of the custom mauser books, like Kuhnhausen, he specifically mentions re heat treating the recievers after welding or grinding too much on them where you would break the "skin" of the case hardening. Garands weren't forged by magic elves and...
