    Weapon light

I've done it in a pinch and hated it. 1. Light is somehow both awkward to turn on but super easy to accidentally turn on. Like walking with rifle slung and the light comes on when it bumps into your leg or brush. 2. The basic TLR1 I used doesn't have much throw, not great on a rifle. FWIW...

    Cloud Defensive OWL

Sounds like you need the REIN! Slightly better specs than the Owl, same warm tint, smaller, lighter, more adaptable. I had an Owl and now have two Reins.

    Cloud Defensive OWL

As mentioned above, the whole light is reversible for left/right so whatever they used on the head also had to be used on the tail. The body will be flipped 180* and the head/tail swap positions. Another way of looking at their attachment method: no worries of cross threading fine aluminum threads.

    Cloud Defensive OWL

There are reasons not to like the OWL but the way it breaks down is not one of them. You would never accidentally disassemble one. You've gotta push in with about 20 pounds of force and turn. Similar feel to a really stubborn tamper proof lid on chemicals etc. Also I wouldn't worry about the...

    Cloud Defensive OWL

I had an OWL and now have two Reins. The OWL is large and bulky and if you mount it on top like they want you to, your thumb is going to be blocking half your sight picture when it's on the button. The REIN has a little better output and takes all Scout type mounts. If you have a .gov email, get...

    Polymer lowers for AR

I have the KE lower. Finally got it after what felt like a 10 year long pre-order. I've been to the range with it once so obviously no durability reporting but it seems well made. It is very light, mostly due to it being all one piece and there's not even a proper buffer tube. The buffer rides...

    Practicality: 12.5" 308 AR10 -vs- 16" 300blk AR15

FWIW I'm very happy with a Savage MSR10. It's a 16" 308 with a longer than carbine length gas tube, easily adjustable gas block like a FAL, and it's a proprietary size receiver between an AR10 and 15 so it's smaller than lighter than an AR10. I also like the way the handguard mounts. Very...

    Practicality: 12.5" 308 AR10 -vs- 16" 300blk AR15

FYI I have a 6.5 Grendel that was doing 2450 when it was 16" and now does 2315 cut down to 12". That's with 123 SST. It blows away the 300 BLK. For such a short light gun its got plenty of power. I've killed a pig at 350ish (lasered) yards with it. I've only used 110 VMAX in the 300 BLK. I've...

    Mauser M18?

I asked Boyd's if they would be making a stock for the M18. Cool that they came out with something. That being said I'm not a fan of the AT One. I've got one for a Mauser (real Mauser) and not happy with it. It seems well made and the adjustment is nice but something that doesn't show up in pics...

    Savage Impulse

I only know a couple people who even know what either of those are, lol. If Savage did this they would be on the shelves in big box stores and would get better exposure.

    Savage Impulse

Now THIS I could get behind. Straight pull makes more sense in a rimfire. Should be a smoother pull due to not needing to overcome as much pressure to open bolt, and no risk of broken teeth.

    Savage Impulse

I'll never forget nearly breaking a tooth when keeping my head on the stock and ejecting a case in a K31. I had crept up on the stock without realizing it. Wouldn't be an issue running a modern chassis with cheek rest but in general with the straight pull rifles I've played with there is no...

    Adjustable gas block

This is pretty much how I treat every adj gas block I have. Wolf ammo with no can and a clean gun will cycle but no bolt lock. The chance of me having to run Wolf ammo with no can is practically zero but I know I can wipe down the bolt and run it if I need to. Why suffer through shitty recoil...

Night Vision Tell me more about this PVS14

If you haven't already, go to an area without much light pollution and check out the night sky. If you have no other use for night vision it's worth it just for that. -Dan

    Gunsmithing KG Gun Kote

What part of the bolt? The contact areas inside the action? I don't see any paint product holding up there. I did a Tikka bolt and it was just as smooth as before. Of course it wore through at the contact areas. It's an extremely thin coating. Cerakote really isn't a good choice here. It's thick...

Anyone have a good headlamp they would recommend...?

    CZ BREN 2

Anyone have one? Mine is an 11" 5.56 and I'm having some accuracy issues. If you've shot groups with yours, please share. It's not terrible with the stock hand guard, about 2-3 moa, but with an HBI handguard I am getting up to 6-8 MOA. This is with 75 bthp hand loads that shoot about moa in...

    Night Vision Perst 4?

I think in this case the green laser is also more powerful. I need to look again but pretty sure the green visible is something like 18-20mw and the red is just low power like any cheap laser.
