300 RUM why aren't they used in 1000 yd cop

Re: 300 RUM why aren't they used in 1000 yd cop I use the 215M for the .338 LM. I run 93-94 grains of H-1000 and or Retumbo. The Hulk is a full .5" shorter than the .338 LM.

300 RUM why aren't they used in 1000 yd cop

Re: 300 RUM why aren't they used in 1000 yd cop TimResin, It not only worked...it produced the smallest and most consistant groups when I switched to them. I never had any hangfires or issues. The 215's worked well too and shot many world class groups and scores but I thought hey..maybe...

300 RUM why aren't they used in 1000 yd cop

Re: 300 RUM why aren't they used in 1000 yd cop ffl... How many grains of powder were you running? Yes, hangfires are bad news but I honestly never experienced any in my loads with the 210's and I did a two year test year round on purpose. When in doubt go with the FED215's. Although the...

Thunder Valley Precision - Ohio 2011 Schedule

Re: Thunder Valley Precision - Ohio Any and every match/shoot is a training day in the minds of most of our shooters. Each course of fire is a trainin course with a shooter ending up with the high score at the end of the day. A 12 target course..a 16 target course and a 20 target course...

    1760 with a 300wsm

Re: 1760 with a 300wsm We've been plugging the 12"x12" steel plate at a mile for some time now with .300 WSM's. One shooter uses Beger 185's and they work great. Most others are using 208 Amax's. They will do a mile with no problem. Good luck!

300 RUM why aren't they used in 1000 yd cop

Re: 300 RUM why aren't they used in 1000 yd cop Sir, A .300 RUM will shoot with accuracy. Some much better than others. I train dozens of older gents a year for hunting trips. A few of them have .300 RUMS and after running quality factory ammo through they will do just fine as a hunting...

300 RUM why aren't they used in 1000 yd cop

Re: 300 RUM why aren't they used in 1000 yd cop Sir, A custom rifle (most) of the time is as true as true can get with the current technology we have. This being the case along with the ammo being (tuned) to the rifle will allow the shooter a better chance of long range accuracy as the...

300 RUM why aren't they used in 1000 yd cop

Re: 300 RUM why aren't they used in 1000 yd cop Flat based bullets have a low BC but I have seen them win 1000 yard matches a time or two. They are accurate and that is what counts. The 240 SMK is shaped like a foot ball yet has a high BC .711 and I launch it at 3000+ fps. At one mile it has...

300 RUM why aren't they used in 1000 yd cop

Re: 300 RUM why aren't they used in 1000 yd cop I hope to test the 230 Berger next week..finishing up another project first. As far as a .30 not being suited to long range this is where I say go back and test with capable rifles, shooters and bullets then hit print. Just so happens a .30...

.338 Lapua effective at 2707 Yards

Re: .338 Lapua effective at 2707 Yards Thanks for the compliment Tac..but the records are just one small part of my quest for extreme precision accuracy. Most folks don't know it all started out testing a counter sniper cartridge for a "Tactical" rifle/weapons sytem. When I have the time...

.338 Lapua effective at 2707 Yards

Re: .338 Lapua effective at 2707 Yards Sir, I hold the world record for a 17lb .30 cal at 1000 yards. Yes, wind is a factor but yo can reach up and dial it in. I've made shots like this as well as others with 10 moa wind on the scope at 2000 yards plus and man size targets would get ate...

.338 Lapua effective at 2707 Yards

Re: .338 Lapua effective at 2707 Yards Shooting past 2000 yards is NOT pushing it with a .338 LM at all if the rifle is built right and using the correct load/bullet with the necessary velocity. We have sub moa hits out to 2400 plus yards on a rock smaller than a volley ball using the new...

    6.5 x 47 Lapua to 1 Mile

Re: 6.5 x 47 Lapua to 1 Mile Or better yet....lets schedule a mile match for 6.5's...say a three target agg. at one mile? Then we can actually see what these bullets can do on paper for group and score. Some of us already know...but this will allow others to see. Also will give a chance to...

    6.5 x 47 Lapua to 1 Mile

Re: 6.5 x 47 Lapua to 1 Mile MDM, Get used to the guys who cast doubt. As for those who do doubt make a trip to TVP and see it done for yourself. A 12"x12" steel target at a mile is a cake walk with a .260 rem shooting 140 Bergers or 142 SMK's no matter what the numbers say.
