    Left Hand Savage Chassis

The XLR is really good, personally I do not like the "hump" that is in front of the action, I wish Kyle would change his design for that area. There are photos on the website (Media page) of a RH Savage in one, one of the outstanding features is the bolt release for the newer, in front of...

Advanced Marksmanship Does the amount of clothing affect POI?

I did a training class with the "Arctic Warriors" (Alaska) a few years ago and wearing the ECWCS GEN III system I couldn't get my hand up to the grip of my rifle if I tried to shoulder it. Few of us could and it was hilarious. Reminded me of the movie 'A Christmas Story' and the little brother...

    How the Hide has changed

Unless it all 'their' knowledge because they've been 'there' and supposedly "done that"! It's a verse - visa thing. We must be adherent pupils of spellynge.

Left Handed Shooter Need ome advice.

I've lived my whole career thus far shooting left handed with 'wrong' handed rifles and pistols. All my issued bolt rifles have, of course, been right handed. You just adapt, and with your own technique learn to cycle the bolt just as fast for a quick follow up shot as a right handed shooter...

    How the Hide has changed

I only get on here for a week of two a few times a year and my enjoyment comes from the comedy factor of some posters (or for a better term posers) and all there knowledge!

Rifle Scopes Need opinions on most rugged scopes..

There is no need, US SOCOM tests from 2008-9 showed that the SCAR H (and the SCAR L to a lesser extent) did have a problem because of the upper and lower being of different materials (aluminum & polymer) caused the two different energy waves that did, when they cycled and collided at the same...

Rifle Scopes Need new rings, any assistance is appreciated!

Check out Talley Tactical rings, I've used them for a little over a year now. They have unique "lugs" that fit into the picatinny slots without any slop. You can purchase them direct from Talley or places like SWFA also.

Rifle Scopes Need opinions on most rugged scopes..

The views I state are from personal experience, but with a quick web search I found these two threads, there are probably more around ; FN SCAR 16/17 - Question for NSW Operators - SOCNET: The Special Operations Community Network...

Rifle Scopes Need opinions on most rugged scopes..

Flynn, While the SCAR does not eat up optics 'regularly' it does have a potential problem that has caused electronic and optical devices to fail. I've read all the white papers and have seen the end results when it happens. See my LAST post from yesterday in another thread ...

Rifle Scopes does magnification affect zero

The answer is yes and no. Optically no in a quality scope BUT in practical, yes and maybe. Those basic 3-9 hunting scopes are parallax set at 100 yards usually so when a hunter/shooter zooms to 9 power and takes a long shot and does not keep his eyesight in line with the optical center of the...

Rifle Scopes Home on leave, looking at IOR scope

LRTI, A know a bit about the SCAR from seeing allot of reports that came down from SOCOM; SOCOM and SOCEUR never got what they wanted out of that deal...which is why we predominantly use the HK 417. They are very hard on electronics i.e. lasers and "red dots". They are equally hard on optics...

Rifle Scopes Home on leave, looking at IOR scope

phillip, thanks man...your statement IS funny...yesterday afternoon I went out to my shooting bench with laser cartridge, and some ammo. A close (non military) friend had been hunting in the morning that's why I did not shoot earlier. So with a reflective pattern target, I quickly dialed in...

Rifle Scopes Home on leave, looking at IOR scope

A quick update for those interested; Received the scope Friday afternoon, Played with it for about one half hour then mounted it up. Got to "work" it this morning for over an hour. Mag ring is very firm, after rotating back and forth for a while I can tell it will ease up some, it's very smooth...

Just for K&Gs I spoke with a R&D person at IOR Romania this morning after looking at the brochure from their home site; Acasa | IOR ...get to Tactical scopes then choose details of Tactical scope IOR 3.5-18x50 and download brochure. One page states, New design with more aperture and eye relief...

Rifle Scopes Home on leave, looking at IOR scope

LRTI, You've been lucky if you have only had one optic go bad. Over the years I've had every brand of scope crap out on me in the worst of situations. The only scope I can remember not going bad was the old Leupold VXIII M1 made for us.

Rifle Scopes Home on leave, looking at IOR scope

I'll give you my thoughts after I have the scope...in my talking with several industry reps of other manufactures what they said of IOR over NF (which I have had on several of my issued rifles) is better optical clarity and resolution, mechanically better and as robust as any other high quality...

Rifle Scopes Home on leave, looking at IOR scope

Not any more...I was able to look at two in Stuttgart, one was a 2.5-10 and the other was a 6 to some high mag. Like every one, I've known about IOR for several years and was interested in the newer 3.5-18 50. From phillip's view and the two "acquaintances" from Ft. Campbell and other research...
