    DLC on BCG's ..pro's v. con's ?

Cost and lead time are the big factors. Ionbond DLC is even more important on the bolt! JP has been DLC coating their bolts for several years now. How about a muzzle device used with a suppressor? It is super helpful. This component gets the nastiest carbon exposure on the whole gun...

    DLC on BCG's ..pro's v. con's ?

MSTN was the first to DLC coat bolts, bolt carriers, muzzle devices, and even gas rings and barrel exteriors 20 years ago, working with IonBond out of North Carolina. DLC will not be hard on your upper receiver - Quite the opposite, in fact. DLC thickness is measured in microns, not inches, and...

    Proof Carbon

I've built dozens in all calibers. Everyone is 100% happy. With my 16" Proof CF and an 8X LPVO, I shot this recently at 200 yards.

Is breaking in an AR barrel really worth it? What is your process with a new barrel?

Having a borescope really helps to determine just what you're starting with in terms of any break in to do. The better the barrel quality, the less there is to do - if anything. This is the technique I've been using for 25 years - and I'm still really just guessing, based on past successes, so...

What 11.5 barrel would you get for a general purpose 5.56?

Craddock Precision can build 11.3" barrels from Bartlein blanks with Carbine +1" gas systems. They're absolutely amazing in the accuracy department, with velocities approaching 12.5" barrels with mid-length gas systems.

Seekins SP-10 gas block mounting question

Barrels typically have one dimple opposite the gas port. For the longest time, gas blocks just had one set screw. It was sufficient, too. The better gas blocks nowadays typically have two set screws. But, the spacing is unfortunately not standardized. Unless provisions are made for the precise...

SLR Sentry 7 adjustable gas block clamp-on: Geissele Mk 8

I've built a good number of combinations like this with no problem.

Getting back into what I was supremely interested in 40 years ago - the FAL. This is a post-ban DSA SA58 about thirty years old I picked up in apparently unfired condition, built from an all matching numbers Austrian StG58 parts kit. The barrel looks nearly new inside. Accuracy potential is...

    The AR15 Picture Thread

Another MSTN 16" Recce with Proof CF barrel. These rifles weigh in at just 6 LB 4 OZ. Attached is a photo of a five-shot group my identical rifle produced with just at 8X scope - at 200 yards.

Question for those with VSeven Harbingers

I checked the two Harbingers I have in the shop today, and both look exactly like that. You have a good eye for detail!

New blaster with 14.5" Criterion core barrel. The usual San Tan STT-15 Hybrid receiver set, Geissele MK16 rail, OSS flash suppressor pinned and welded, TriggerTech Competition trigger, BCM MK2 recoil system, Fortis K1 receiver end plate with tapered castle nut, DHD & V7 small parts, etc.

    BCG & accuracy?

Headspace is indeed key - But not quite everything, it seems. Well made, quality parts always give better results. The good news is AR' parts are across the board so much better now than 20 years ago. A subtly larger bolt carrier outside diameter or a subtly tighter upper receiver inside...

    SBR overall length measurement

From NFA Branch: "When you are measuring the OAL of your SBR, for your ATF Form 1 or your ATF Form 4 you will need to measure the total length of your SBR with the stock fully extended. If you have any removable muzzle devices you will need to remove them, when measuring your SBR."
