    45/70 Reduced Loads

    6 grains of unique chrono'd 700 FPS from my 18.5" Marlin with a 405 grain bullet. I stuffed a cotton ball on top of the powder charge to keep it against the primer. No issues for me in a couple of hundred rounds. That's the only light loading I did with a 45-70.

    Yes, pressure started at 45.4 in Lapua brass with that combo. I was using 44.9 grains and had 2900 FPS out of a 22" barrel. How did you come up with this load you're using?

    Yes, I went exactly like you did from a Weaver 3-15x50 to an F1 and finally the light came on as to why people spend so much on scopes. It was a mystery until then. After using the NF for a while I used a guy at the range's S&B 5-25x56 and was blown away.
