Rifle Scopes 600 yard F-class: Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44 PA vs. Viper PST 2.5-10x44?

Neither. I've owned the PST 2.5-10x44. It would be a poor choice for F-class at 600 yards, for several reasons: -fixed parallax set at 100 yards -poor glass quality at 10x -10x is not enough magnification to be competitive for F-class shooting (cue people talking about how they make hits on 4...

Rifle Scopes Viper PST 6-24 Failure - AGAIN!

I think the metal mag ring is the only stated change, and was basically a mid-2013 change to update the look. I've seen one single post here stating that it also brought improved glass quality on the 4-16x50 model, but I haven't seen that claimed anywhere else.

Rifle Scopes SWFA SS HD 1-6x24 Tactical Scope For 3 Gun?

In my example the eyebox on 6x is just fine. Exactly what I would expect with a 4mm exit pupil, and comparable to other 1-6x scopes I've had including the Razor HD and Leupold VX-6. If you've ever used a hunting scope with a smaller exit pupil you'll be happy with it. If someone has only ever...

Rifle Scopes Do you typically use ALL that magnification?

I've been running a SFP 6-24x50 Sightron in competition for about a year now, and find myself mostly using 18-20x at distances from 200 to 600. I'll sometimes use 24x if everything is ideal, but both mirage and lighting conditions can limit that (it's not always bright here in Michigan, but we...

Rifle Scopes Buying an under $600 scope?

I would get a SWFA SS fixed 10x for $299. It's a very good value, a lot more scope than the $200-250 Bushnell 10x, and when you have money for something nicer you can put the SS on a .22 or resell it for not much less than you paid for it. The Bushnell 10x lacks a parallax adjustment, and in...

Rifle Scopes SWFA 10x HD or vortex PST 4-16?

I've briefly owned two of the 4-16x50 PST scopes (one each FFP and SFP) and both of them were rather murky from 13x to 16x, regardless of focus and ocular adjustments. I have a SS 10x42HD and it has excellent clarity. I also really like the turrets. For use out to 300 yards, and no need to...

Boyd stock for a howa s/a?

I have a Boyd prairie hunter for a Howa 1500. For what I paid, it's good, but it's not the same as a B&C stock, which I also have for a Howa. With the Boyd, plan to do some careful and thorough glass bedding if you want to get the best accuracy results.

    Rifle Scopes Bushnell G2DMR 3.5-21x50

Burris XTR II series Sightron SIII 6-14x50 FFP model (or SFP models if you prefer) Clearance deals on various Nightforce NXS scopes (all SFP) SWFA SS 5-20x50mm HD model, with or without illumination Of those the XTR II and SS are the most similar in features and target market. You can get some...

Rifle Scopes Nightforce ATACR Accuracy Concern

All brands have lemons sometimes - what matters is how often they slip them out, and how they fix the ones that do slip out. All I've heard is that NF is tops on both accounts. Still sucks if it happens to you. My first new car was a Honda Accord that turned out to be a lemon. Sometimes you...

Best reasonably priced 223 bolt gun.

The Tikka T3 is offered with a 1/8 twist barrel and may be your best choice for heavier bullets. Howa and the similar Weatherby Vanguard are very nice rifles, but in .223 have a 1/12 twist (or apparently 1/14 for the varmint model Vanguard), which is a bummer. Most Remington and Savage options...

Rifle Scopes Vortex Viper pst 2.5-10x32 vs Nightforce 2.5-10x24

What's your basis for that? I've owned 4 PST's and the x32 was night and day difference from the others optically. Are you a Vortex insider?

Rifle Scopes 1-4 optic for heavy recoiling rifle

"Stands up to heavy recoil" and "under $300" aren't very compatible requirements.... but, the closest thing I would try is the Weaver Dangerous Game 1-5x24, which is at least intended for your exact use. It's currently $411 at Amazon.com but in the past has occasionally been $300 or less. I...

Rifle Scopes SWFA 3-9x or 3-15x

I've been using the 3-9x for a while and am very happy with it. No experience with the 3-15x. Either one will serve you well, but there are two more options to consider: 1) Bushnell Elite Tactical 3-12x44mm FFP with G2DMR reticle - splits the difference of magnification, slightly better glass...

Rifle Scopes Burris XTR-II 1-5x24mm first impressions

The throw from 1x to 5x is exactly 180 degrees. The magnification ring is not as stiff as the Vortex Razor (or the SWFA SS) - it's exactly where I would put it, stiff enough to stay put, loose enough that it's easy to move when you want to. Having owned the Razor with the JM-1 reticle, I do...

Rifle Scopes Burris XTR-II 1-5x24mm first impressions

I backordered this scope around the end of January and just received it yesterday. I haven't had time to mount it and use it on a rifle, so these are simply my first impressions from playing around with it and looking at stuff at distances from 1 yard to 800 yards. Optics: Excellent for the...

Rifle Scopes Vortex Viper pst 2.5-10x32 vs Nightforce 2.5-10x24

Except that this is the kind of report coming from virtually everyone who's looked through the 2.5-10x32FFP and one of the earlier models in the PST series. There are essentially no negative reviews of the glass on the 2.5-10x32FFP, and no positive reviews on the glass in the earlier...

Rifle Scopes Scope market inside scoop...

This sounds very, very expensive, and very, very awesome. Not sure I'll have the budget for one, but look forward to seeing it nonetheless.
