    I haven't been around in quite a long time. It is great to see that this thread is still going! I have 6.5x55AI on a Rem 700 that I built back at the end of 2013 if I remember correctly. It is an amazing rifle and I love the cartridge.... I bought a Desert Tech covert about two years ago...

    Irish the 1710 and 1712 are part of our sporting line rather than our match line.... They are 54 series actions but are slightly shorter in length than the 19XX actions and take the 5109 triggers rather than the 5018 match trigger. They are also repeaters where all of our match rifles are...

    Jbell, we are using standard 1710 actions on these so you are correct about the pressed and pinned barrel and sandwiched recoil lug. They may start using a lighter trigger spring in the 5109 trigger and calling it a 5110 but that is the only difference I am aware of. DJ work is a good...

    Long Action

    The 6.5x55 and the .260 are going to be pretty much the same.... I went through this same dilemma a few years back and ended up building a 6.5x55AI. You can still shoot standard ammo through it if you would like and when it comes time to go hunting, you can push a 140gr bullet about 3000 fps...

    6.5x55 Swede users?

    The mags are for AI 300wm. You have to close the feed lips in just a little but it seems to work pretty well
