Rifle Scopes A rant about poor focal plane, dial limit and reticle data on scope brand websites

It's funny that you guys are bagging on Leupy, because I think the king of "great scopes, terrible website" is Sig. Like half their information up there is from their gen 1 scopes, and I don't even remember seeing a subtension document for the gen2 or 6T scopes.

Accessories WTT: 34mm black Warne RAMP mount for 30mm Warne RAMP mount

I got a black 34mm Warne RAMP mount as part of a deal, but I wound up going with a different mount instead for the scope it came with. I would like to trade this 34mm RAMP mount for a black 30mm RAMP mount for use with a different scope. My mount has never been mounted and is pristine. Don't...

Rifle Scopes Anyone ever use their illumination?

Fascinating topic. I am mostly an LPVO carbine guy, but do a little bit of the long-range thing with my bolt guns when I can spare time for a run to PNTC. The answer is, yes, I use it, especially on 1x. The necessity of illumination sometimes depends on reticle design. You see this a lot with...

Rifle Scopes Best SBR variable optic choices?

I'd personally vote for a Razor 1-6 (MRAD) or Accupoint 1-6x (fiber optic reticle to taste), depending on how far you think you're going to be shooting and if you have an aversion to batteries or not. Remember that BDC reticles are not going to work well with a barrel that short.

Rifle Scopes Looking for advice - FFP v SFP... what are you using for what..?

If daylight bright illumination were more common (and cheap) in FFP reticles, I'd probably advocate using it for everything. Unfortunately, it's not, and that means that resorting to SFP LPVOs. The trade-offs are generally tolerable up to about 1-6x. Wish DFP LPVOs were more of a thing; Burris...

Rifle Scopes Vortex Razor HD Gen III 1-10x

I would wager the price would be closer to $10k+, but we'll see.

Rifle Scopes Vortex Razor HD Gen III 1-10x

Just to be clear, I wasn't really complaining, there are arguments to be made for a 5.5MOA dot at 1x, I just wanted to confirm that my thinking was correct before I wrote something dumb and wrong.

Rifle Scopes Vortex Razor HD Gen III 1-10x

So, new topic for discussion... I've been writing a review, and finally realized why I was having slightly more trouble than usual while trying to bang smaller steel at 1x zoom from distance. The way the reticle is constructed, it seems like when you're down at 1x and then turn the illumination...

Rifle Scopes Vortex Razor HD Gen III 1-10x

Geez, am I getting quoted as bashing the gen3? I think it's a phenomenal scope and am glad I bought one. Just to be clear, 1) I don't think I'm some carbine master and never portrayed myself as such, and 2) on something like an "up" drill, I'm just as fast with a Gen3 as I am a reflex sight...

    Rifle Scopes Bushnell SMRS 1-8.5x....anyone?

I'll have to keep an eye out. Might go nice on my Sig 556R.

    Rifle Scopes Bushnell SMRS 1-8.5x....anyone?

Cameraland was blowing them out for $680, that's why a bunch of people bought them. I have no regrets, personally.

Rifle Scopes Weaver Tactical 3-15x50 or what else for around $400?

Forgive my illiteracy. Buy the Accupower.

Rifle Scopes Weaver Tactical 3-15x50 or what else for around $400?

Dvor is selling Accupower 4-16x scopes for $485: https://www.dvor.com/trijicon-accupower-4-16x50-30mm-riflescope.html This is a little out of your budget, but it is a lot of scope for the money. Green milrad version seems to be in stock still.

Rifle Scopes Vortex Razor HD Gen III 1-10x

This is sort of a tough one, because I am cross-eye dominant and using scopes both eyes open is very challenging for me. The eybox is obviously worse than a reflex sight. I would say this manifested more during transition practice (and we are talking fast .25s transitions here) than it did when...

Rifle Scopes Vortex Razor HD Gen III 1-10x

Shot mine from 7-300yds at a carbine class. It's magnificent. The issue with the tips of the sixes being illuminated is a total non-issue when you're using this on a gun at speed in a class or match. The 7-10x range really starts to shine on small targets at distance (we were banging some steel...

Rifle Scopes Burris XTR iii, how are they doing?

Tactical and competitive guys do a lot of shooting on timers, against multiple targets at different distances (near/far). A solid 1x experience is very valuable to them. Hunters and target shooters... perhaps less so. Which is why I asked, because I was curious.

Are you a hunter, target shooter, or tactical shooter?

Rifle Scopes Sig Tango 4 Thoughts? Esp 4-14x44

The reliability of the turrets does seem to be the weak spot in the line. Hopefully Sig works that out in the next go-around. I was otherwise pretty impressed.

    Rifle Scopes LPVO for 15-22

Burris RT-6 is the best in that price range. You will need to run your load through Strelok to figure out what the hashes correspond to. If you could stretch it further, a PST Gen II MRAD would also be a good choice.

Rifle Scopes Sig Tango 4 Thoughts? Esp 4-14x44

My Tango4 4-16x gen2 came in. I paid $440 for it from EuroOptic. It is marked as made in the Philippines. Optically, I'd say the PST Gen II comparison is pretty good. It's not as clear as my Tango6 scopes, but peering around the neighborhood a bit, I thought the level of detail it was resolving...
