    velocity minimum for varying conditions

I used to try to load to a specific velocity, but gave up when I realized that I usually needed to sacrifice accuracy to accomplish that. Every once in a while, rifle, bullet, and powder come together in harmonic unison, and an optimal charge is found. You should be able to find another accuracy...

    Reloader 33 and 300 Norma

I've been playing with it, but keep coming up short in the velocity department. I scraped up a starting load from somewhere for .300wm using 79.5gr RL33 behind a 230gr. Berger, and got 2750fps out of a 29'' barrel. I pushed it to 83gr, and got 2800fps. In .338LM, I ran 97.5gr of RL33 with a...

    Gunsmithing 110FCP-HS Muzzle Brake Mod

Re: 110FCP-HS Muzzle Brake Mod Shot friday & today with a 1/8" hole drilled at 12o'clock, forward in the center port. I noticed a SLIGHT reduction in vertical climb, but nothing substantial. I will add more ports, and increase the diameters, incrementally.

New US Military .300 Win Mag Match MK 248 MOD 1

Re: New US Military .300 Win Mag Match MK 248 MOD 1 Ok. I'm not trying to be dense, it just works out that way sometimes. The reason is not obvious to me. It appears, by reading what Sinister posted, that ONLY a large rifle match primer is capable of meeting the ballistic requirements herein...

New US Military .300 Win Mag Match MK 248 MOD 1

Re: New US Military .300 Win Mag Match MK 248 MOD 1 I read that part. I guess I just don't understand how a large rifle match primer can function better in a magnum cartridge than a magnum primer.

    Gunsmithing 110FCP-HS Muzzle Brake Mod

Re: 110FCP-HS Muzzle Brake Mod Alrighty, then. I will perform this modification to the existing brake and report back with results, if anyone is interested.

    Gunsmithing 110FCP-HS Muzzle Brake Mod

Has anybody ported the top side of the factory brake on the Savage 110Fcp-Hs .338LM? Muzzle jump is making it hard to spot those 1k impacts.

    Speeding up my .308

Re: Speeding up my .308 I had a different experience. I agreed with the above post until I started using 2000mr. I had issues trying to get the 208 Amax to group, but have had recent success with the Hornady 208 HPBT & 47gr 2000mr, Win brass. It's on the warm side, but it's smack in the...

What moa base for 300wm 1000yd & vortex pst?

Re: What moa base for 300wm 1000yd & vortex pst? The way to maximize your total adjustment is to count the number of downward MOA adjustment remaining after you achieve zero at the desired distance. All scope/mount/rifle combos can be different. Two Savage 110FCP-hs .338LM rifles, one had a...

    Hornady 338 285 gr bthp

Re: Hornady 338 285 gr bthp My left eyelid twitches violently before a component shortage, I got lucky and fell into a small pile of them at Cabela's, just after xmas. Funny thing, I had the cash for all their stash, but only bought what I needed. Using ExBal, these bullets were a good 4'...

    Contaminated Brass

Re: Contaminated Brass Thanks for the reply. I tumble 10k cases per year, and am sick of picking media out of flash holes, so that's not an option. I just looked through 150 prepped cases & found 13 of them with 1 but no more than 3 granules of residual Data74 powder. I will blow compressed...

    Speeding up my .308

Re: Speeding up my .308 +1 on the 2000mr. when the 175gr hpbt's are gone, try the 190s, if you have 1/11.25 twist and a 26" barrel. At your altitude, you should be accurate to at least 1300yds. I'm still blown away by this powder, pushing heavies fast with no perceivable pressure signs.

    Contaminated Brass

Just got done with a 2k batch of converted 300blk brass. During load testing with a new gas system, upper & bolt & carrier, I have been getting occasional severe overpressure/overgassed signs. The load is a known moderate/high end load that functioned well before the component swap. The new...

    RL33 in .338's

    Re: RL33 in .338's Yes. I used it in my 110fcp-hs .338LM,and my 29" barreled .300wm. In .338LM, 97.5gr of RL33 was pushing a 300gr Berger to 2750fps @ 40degF & 2800fps @ 70degF. I got pressure signs at 99.5gr, but didn't get much past 2810 @ 40deg. outside temp. In .300wm, with 79.5gr RL33...

    Federal large rifle magnum primers

Re: Federal large rifle magnum primers Right, I ran those numbers too. Reducing the charge opens the group up.I want to find a way to keep the tight groups, but reduce the charge. Maybe I should find the next node down, and keep the magnum primers. I just need to get to 1330yds.

Grendel and 5.56 mags in stock

Re: Grendel and 5.56 mags in stock Were you able to get them to function? I couldn't get mine to work with .556 ammo because the distance between the feed lips is about .085" wider than a .556 USGI mag, and my rounds would not stay in, even with a .556 follower.
