    Subsonic 223 in a bolt gun. Shooting supressed

    You'll need a pretty fast twist to stabilize the 77s at low velocity. They need to be stable when exiting the muzzle due to the possibility of baffle strikes in the suppressor. Also, they don't expand. Even a subsonic 53 Vmax will not expand in water testing.

    Do I need match ammo at 100 yards? Or is it a waste of money?

    If you are trying to save money on ammo costs, learn to reload. It takes about an hour or two a week to make 50 rounds of match ammo, and the savings will be 50% or more of store bought match ammo.

    Geez, what did southern Europe do to you? I have in-laws in south Italy. Super nice people who are a hard working group. This has been on people's minds for a couple years. They have some evacuation plans in place and are monitoring the volcano to give some warning.

    For a free app with basic features, the Arken ballistics app is decent. The only thing that I haven't been able to figure out is if you can "true" the load at different distances.

    They do well. Years ago, before the 87 was introduced, I had a 6mm Remington. That rifle shot the 75 V-Max really well but I did have a couple pass through hits on prairie dogs at ranges beyond 300 yards. It killed then dead but it wasn't explosive. The BC on the 87 is so much better that it...

    In my experience, the 75 and 80 ELD-M want to be close to the lands. The only complaint that I have heard with N540 is that is burns hotter and can erode a barrel quicker. In a 223, I don't see that being an issue, and have had good succes with it. Berger is always a more consistent choice...

    You may want to turn that load up a little bit. I'm running 24.9 N540 with the 80 ELD and load them long, 2.500" The last time I was out, using LC brass, I was seeing 2881 average with an SD of 9. That was only 5 shots, and I don't remember the ES, but I want to say it was in the low 20s.
