    300wm, McMillan edge tech stock, stiller Tac300, 24" Rem varmint Bartlein. It will ride in my Kifaru Mtn Rambler. Went to Idaho and Colorado last year. So weight is an issue for sure, but reliability is number 1. I usually pack to stay in 4-5 nights max.

    As far as durability goes, the Nightforce outweighs the Kahles and I assume is more durable. The scope will see hard use on backpack hunts in rugged terrain. Anyone had issue with the Kahles, as far a reliability?

    Yes this helps a lot with the Vortex being 30mm tube does this affect performance in low light situations?

    Do you mind elaborating on why? Reticle choice, eyebox(from what I've read, not personal experience) and glass clarity are the reasons I am considering Kahles.

    Well, in my last post I asked to be talked out of Nightforce NXS for a steel shooting / hunting rifle. Thanks for everyone that repsonded with the great advice. I have in fact been talked out of that optic, and have expanded my budget to include optics that are superior in every category...

    Rifle carrying backpack

    I have the Kifaru Mountain Rambler, it has a scabbard you can stow away under the main bag when not in use. The Kifaru frame system is super comfortable even under heavy load. The pack has a meat shelf system as well that works great carrying boned out meat.

    My only experience with quality optics is my Vortex razor hd gen1 I run on my 308. I love the optic but it is huge and heavy, I would love a vortex amg but it's outta my price range. Don't know if there is a "perfect" optic for all the things I want.

    Cageli that Bushnell really looks good for hunting, I don't know if the scope would be do everything I want for shooting steel.

    I definitely want SFP I don't like how thin and hard to see the reticle is at low power in a ffp scope. Especially for lowlight hunting situations. The poor FOV is something I will hafta look into.
