Re: Suggestions on higher-end AR-10 platforms
Try to get one used. Buy it and shoot it. Sell it and get another brand and do the same. Try to get one off the used section at a good price and you should be able to recoup most of you money when you sell it.
I found in shooting that the ammo...
Re: Expected 10-shot group size for premium AR-10?
I have a hard time running JP enterprise 308s. I have two with 16-18" barrels. I am using S&B glass on one and NF on the other. Ammo is 168gr Fed match. My teeth rattle due to the muzzle break.
After I shoot the ARs I will shoot a Surgeon...
Re: 223 at 300yrds- ammo.
Get remanufactured 75 grain from Black hills. Outdoor outfitters I think has it for a little over 50cents a round. It will shoot outstanding for you. I shoot 600 yds with 1-8 18" JP Enterprise.
Re: Barrel flutinz!
how important is it that the flutes are spaced evenly? When the barrel heats up will improper flutes cause the barrel to warp in any direction?
Re: Jp Rifles
i have both and say that they both are along the same plain. Very accurate and tight. Do you want top charge or side? I don't like the hand guard on the GAP and I wish they would go with a mono mega upper and lower. Try to get one used and save a little money.
Re: Any Interest in Steyr SSG 69 Aluminum Trig. Guard
Make it happen. Try some samples and take lots of pics for us. The SSG 69 has a lot of rifles out there looking for this solution. You must use AI mags. Show us what you have and lets get the ball rolling. All you need is one proto type...
Re: Fixed 10X scopes
I have 3 S&B PII fixed 10, 5 B&L 10X40 Tac (old stile) and 2 MST-100. I shoot at 600 with all of them no problem. I do have a hard time picking up small targets 6" at 600. I feel you will need 15-16 power for 600+. S&B makes a great 4-16 as dose NF 3.5-15. B&L just came...
Re: Remington 700 from LongRifles: UPDATE Range Report
What torque do you have your action screws at? I think you will be happy if you had the action skim bedded. Those stocks need to run around 65" or the action will move. If you bed them they will work better w/o the massive torque on the...
Re: Remington 700 from LongRifles: UPDATE Range Report
Orge, Great rifle builder. I have been looking at his stuff for a while now. The groups will come in you just need to give it some time. I find that new barrels take a few rds to settle in. I like the big heavy glass stocks, maybe a cheek...
Re: Action screw torque...
The only reason you would torque a action screw to 65in lbs is for v bedding blocks. I have talked with H-S and they recommended this for driving the barreled action into the bedding block. The torque will affect accuracy, test it and you will see for yourself. This...
Re: very first 620 yd group
I shoot 600 with 168s all the time. For what you are running you both did very well. If this was your first trip to that range it can be very difficult to judge wind. You will definably want get that scope as close to rifle as possible (cheek weld). I would use a...
Re: How much do you guys train?
I think a large majority of gun owners in the USA shoot very little. Training is a whole other question. Very few train in the USA other than military or LE. If you come over and shoot a season of DCM, you will be surprised how few show up to compete. This...
Re: Evolution of equipment (or how to waste tons of $)
I love your post. I decided instead of changing one rifle 3-4 times, just buy 3-4 separate rifles. I could never get 1 rifle to do it all. The down side is I have spent all my money on rifles that see little use. 4 different, actions...
Re: Custom Action question
AIAW is hands down the most reliable. I don't like the feel of them, but they are up there. I love the surgeon and custom action as well. Rem 700 is the base line in my eyes for anything worth shooting. If you are like me resale will always be a issue. Go with...
