    New savage model 12 .223

the real question is how much do you want to spend. there are lots of options from boyds at about 100ish to sharp shooter supply around 350. choate makes a tactical stock from 200 to 650 depending on the options as well as manners, and hs precision or you can go with a chassis system. mcrees...

    100 yard home range?

I'm doing this very thing this summer. I'm going to build a row of railroad ties perpendicular to the shooter with wings angling about 135 degrees on each side. I have access to more sand than I would ever need. Literally metric tons so will fill in with that.

Caldwell Lead Sled vs Fire Control full length rifle rests

I used there lead sled dft to run ladder tests on my 110 ba a couple days ago. It's rock solid. I strapped the rifle in. The adjustments were easy to use for getting on target. I was at 55x magnification. It requires a little shooter input to stay perfectly centered and not hop but not much...

    Newb on a budget

Be aware on the savages that if you get the bolt release on the bottom aftermarket support for stocks is still limited but ramping up. The side bolt release is the standard in the aftermarket.

Hard extraction at mild load problem

temp 9, I think it is that too with the excessive recoil. I did a bunch of reading on other forums and sounds like its a bit of everything. The federal brass is definitely too soft. i have no idea if its bumping back the shoulder enough and given the recoil and over eager extraction sounds...

Would three thousandths bump be enough or would you go five?

The lrp comes with an hs precision stock too. I've been looking into doing what you are thinking about and for the price on the 11s it's way more than the lrp.

    Newb on a budget

If you can go that high get a savage lrp or vlp and be done with it. Any model 10 or twelve would b great and the tens are less than 800. Vlp is a 12 in mid 800s the lrp is 931 and those are definitely sub half moa. Some shooters are reporting 1/4

Hard extraction at mild load problem

I forgot to mention this particular gun has way more apparent recoil than I'm used to in a 308.

Hard extraction at mild load problem

It wasn't sticky or hard to chamber. I've got a pretty tight chamber in my ba and it chambered fine. I didn't set bump just left it at the factory bump. Also there were no scrape marks on the side of the brass or flattened primers like I'm used to see with a hot load, which 39 grains isn't. I...

Hard extraction at mild load problem

So I was testing loads in a dpms lr308 with the 18 inch barrel for my dad and the rim of the cartridge has bad extraction marks not on the back but on thw interior almost immediately. Even at 39 grains of imr 4064 behind a hornady 150 spire point they started at 42 grains they bent the case rim...

    Newb on a budget

I would go with a savage. Out of the box accuracy is the best in the business. Maybe a Remington or clone can do better after having work done but right out of the box even a lot of Remington shooters here will say edge to savage

    Range Report Ladder test question

The lower node did show horizontal dispersion. But I'm betting shooter error. If u don't steady the sled it will bounce sideways even with the 50lbs of shot on it. Took me a few shots to figure that out so the lower holes would have touched. The upper ones did.
