Setting up a LCD on a Forster Co-AxJust got a coup

Re: Setting up a LCD on a Forster Co-AxJust got a coup I set my collet dies so that the handle of my co-ax hits the stops at the bottom of its stroke. To get the correct neck tension I turn the die down in increments and then set the lock ring when the correct neck tension is achieved.

    338 Lapua Barrel Profile?

Re: 338 Lapua Barrel Profile? I have a 30" border straight taper on mine (r700 action), long and heavy to say the least especially with a can on. Does the job though.

    .338 285 GR question

Re: .338 285 GR question I think you're starting too low at 73, from my experience with H1000 and 300 gr projectiles you're better finding a node near the top of he range. I've gone all the way up to 92 but found the node to be around 88.5. I'd start at 83 and work up carefully watching for...

Rifle Scopes Best power scope for long distance 338LM

Re: Best power scope for long distance 338LM Like others have said, elevation is probably more of a concern. The nf 5.5-22x is probably my top choice but I went with the Sightron 6-24x which has the same 100 Moa elevation and has worked out really well. Alaska bush man - the rem will drop...

    Maggie’s Fifty Shades Of Grey

Re: Fifty Shades Of Grey A good read, and it was on kindle for next to nothing! Here's a couple more... As I stared at out at the army of strange creatures standing to attention on the lawn, I realised I'd mixed up the slug pellets and the Viagra. Not in this shed, she said, I'm an...

    Tikka T3 questions

Re: Tikka T3 questions I converted a .270 to a .260 and have had no issues so far. I'd say you were good to go.

Re: Sightron Slll 8-32 vs Nightforce 8-32 glass I own both, glass is pretty much equal.

Rifle Scopes Looking for a scope for a .338 Lapua

Re: Looking for a scope for a .338 Lapua The nightforce 5.5-22 is a pretty good option, I've been using a 6-24 Sightron and it's worked out really well with its 100 Moa elevation and great glass.

    Rifle Scopes EGW scope bases

Re: EGW scope bases I have an EGW HD base on a 338 LM, no recoil lug but does have 8x40 fasteners. It's remains properly torqued in place no problem. On a 223 it's a non issue and a very good rail for he price.

    first chargemaster experience

Re: first chargemaster experience Great piece of kit and one which I'd hate to be without! Keep it away fom strip lights, mobile phones and laptops when in use as they have been known to cause problems, I also let mine warm up for 30 mins so after switching on. I'd ditch your beam scale for...

Range Report Remington 700p 300 Winmag

Re: Remington 700p 300 Winmag Mine shoots extremely well with the 208 Amax loaded to mag length. Rem cases, cci 250's and N165. Lots of other good powder choices but the 208 is really good out of the 300wm.

    can't close/ tight bolt.

Re: can't close/ tight bolt. Are you full length sizing or just neck sizing? Camming your bolt shut on oversized brass is not going to do you any favours in the long run, far better to shoulder bump the case back just enough to give a snug fit whilst being able to close the bolt easily. If...

    Manners

Re: Manners I have both the T4 and T5 (T4 is on a 260 and the T5 is a 338LM) both are excellent... I've actually become just a little more partial to the T5, the thumb hole stock is extremely comfortable and handles recoil well, plus I think I'd be more comfortable hunting with it as it is...

    can't close/ tight bolt.

Re: can't close/ tight bolt. It's not your overall length that's the problem, it'll be a dimension in your fired cases - shoulder, body, trim length etc. if you have a way of measuring the shoulder dims check there first, if not get a sharpie and black out a portion of an empty case, chamber...

    Will Heavy Barrel Weaken Receiver???

Re: Will Heavy Barrel Weaken Receiver??? I've hung a 30" heavy 338 with sound mod off a r700 and decided to bed about 1.5" of the barrel forward of the recoil lug just to add some extra support. I was pillar bedding the action anyway so It was easy to do it and makes reasonable sense. However...

    .338 lapua brass

Re: .338 lapua brass You have to be a little wary buying once fired brass, I bought 200 pieces of 338 that had been fired from a military 'sloppy' chamber. The base just above the head stamp had expanded badly to such a degree that I could not size it with my standard dies effectively. Trying...

Does anyone full size AND neck size their brass?

Re: Does anyone full size AND neck size their brass? There's a lot to be said for the lee collet die, if you use it in conjunction with a Redding body die you have a sound reloading set up for sure. I use them in everything I load for except 338lm and find it a fast and accurate way to resize.
