New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
I have a Harris 6-9 for prone and bench matches and have not seen the need for anything taller expect for one stage at a match. But to get past that we just threw the rifles up on a backpack.
Remember it's always easier to add than it is to take away.
Shot highpower for a while. WOA upper on a bushmaster lower. Every time I missed the x ring I knew it was me not the rifle. So big old +1 for WOA from me
I prefer the SD3 trigger for a three gun and fun match, but that's personal preference.
And personally I don't like magnifiers. While you won't be using it for combat use, it does greatly restrict the FOV more so than a 1.5-8 would.
So I'd say the IOR. Looks like a sweet rifle though so...
+1 on the finding land marks and ranging them before hand. Usually look for where I would expect the deer to come from then put them on a range card in a notebook.
A little background... I did not have shin splints before I joined the military and had been running an average of 6 miles a day. When I got to basic however, I could barely finish the three mile runs due to the extreme pain I was having in my shins.
Nearly a year after that I finally...
Jealous.... damn military. Hope to make a fall one if they have one this year. Good luck to everyone and thanks to Tom (and the rest of the set up crew) for the work he (they) puts into these.

Re: 17 year olds budget build!
I'm in the same boat as triceratops. Started at 17 and after a year of mostly saving I ended up with the rifle in my signature. Went from a .223 to a 6.5 creedmoor.
Being 18 now and in the army I just dream of going back home and shooting both rifles and...
Re: Thunder Valley Precision - Ohio 2012 Schedule
Not that it's beneficial at all,
But I miss shooting at TVP. The shooting, not the people
All joking aside I'll be there September 2013

Re: input needed tikka t3 lite or ruger american??
+1 on the Tikka.
Shot a few deer with my .270 T3 lite. The stock isn't the most rigid but there is enough clearance that it is free floating when shot of a bipod.
