The new Athlon Ares BTR G3 2.5-15x50, initials, and ongoing thoughts.

What the glass like? I've only seen one 2.5-15 BTR G2 in real life and the glass was horrible compared to my PST G2 scopes. I've been waiting to find the goldilocks $1000 +/- scope for a while now, would prefer capped windage (my main complaint about the PST) but the thicker reticle in this...

Mines a folder, I've got a plug on each side. I'll have to pull the skins off and see if its threaded so I can attach my own. Does any one know if you can get limited rotation flush cups that'll fit for this purpose? Grovetec have a bunch of limited rotation options but nothing I can see...

I've seen that most ATs have this additional QD cup that mine doesn't, is it a standard option or an add on?

Precision Rifle Gear Let’s Talk Bipods

I looked at the TBAC, seems like it ticks lost boxes, seen a few complaints about overly loose/rattly/sloppy. Also looks like you can't just pull on the legs to extend, which is the main thing I'd like added to a Harris. Also don't like 6-9" bipods, I find I'm always shooting them at full...

Precision Rifle Gear Let’s Talk Bipods

I've been researching bipods a lot recently, I was always a Harris guy until the I was eventually convinced (seeing guys at matches) that the Ckye Pod was actually going to give me features that the Harris didn't have. However I hardly use any of the Ckye Pod features and find myself missing...

norma tac 22 vs norma match

I imagine the ES would be grow with a larger sample, but if that batch shoots well in your rifle I'd be buying as much as I possibly could.

What rifle and how many rounds over the chrony? An ES of 22 is amazing for 22lr.

    T1x ACE in Hand - Review - Pictures - Info - Thoughts

Almost every shot has been over the Chrony. The 500 rounds CCI SV had an ES 81, SD of 13.43, if you look at the ES for individual packs of ammo (50 rounds) the highest ES I saw was 65fps (which is great for bulk ammo) however adding them all together it bumps up to 81fps. I was having issues...

    T1x ACE in Hand - Review - Pictures - Info - Thoughts

Been spending a reasonable amount of time with the rifle since owning it, some “dry fire” practise, messing around adjusting the chassis and actual shooting. The first 500 rounds I put through it was the brick of CCI SV, unfortunately the weather hasn’t been great last few weeks, always have...

    I Spy New Baby Razor G3 4-24

Similar weight to the Element Nexus 4-25x50 then. Glassaholic has just finished a review of all the 6-36x56 LOW based scopes, looks like he is going to be busy again with the lower magnification versions.

    I Spy New Baby Razor G3 4-24

Hope it weighs less than 46.5oz. If it's not stupid heavy and they don't mess up the reticle, it could be a sweet scope.

    Leofoto tripod for NRL

The Leofoto 4 section SA 364c is a nice tripod if you want a smaller package. I'm not sure if a 2 section tripod would be very good for NRL Hunter, if you are shooting off steep angles the 2 section tripods can be a real pain. The easiest way to carry a long tripod is in a pack with a scabbard...

Precision Rifle Gear Let’s Talk Bipods

The only bipod comparable to the Ckyepod is the TierOne ATAC, not sure if it's readily available in the US though. If you want Ckyepod versatility then get a Ckyepod.

    Tikka T1X

I would never use 33MS on anything unless you want to smell like it for a week! I just use tetra gun grease, but anything other than 33MS would be fine. You could also disassemble the bolt and clean/lube where the bolt handle attachment rides over the bolt body. I have a brand new T1x here...

    Tikka T1X

How old is the rifle? Mine is very slick, but has had a lot of rounds through it. Grease the camming surfaces, and use is the usual fix. A longer bolt handle (I love Sterk Swept) helps a lot as you get more leverage, or even just the Tikka rubber ball helps a bunch.

    Tikka T3 Thread

Agreed, outside of the USA I'd say M14x1 or M15x1 is the most common thread for sporter weight barrels. 9/16x24 is about 14.3mm and is what I'd go for. Tikka started offering the D18 profile that can take a 5/8x24 thread, but for standard lite profile need to go a bit smaller than that.

Last word on barrel twist (at least until I shoot the damn thing) was this comment from Frank Green in another thread, says it all really, given the choice 1:12 twist is leaving a lot on the table.

Yeah that is an option, I was keen on a DFP model but the mixed reviews put me off. I'm going to use the LRTS for a bit (with the 308 barrel) but might end up with an LPVO for hunting use. I haven't even shot it yet, so will starting shooting before I worry to much about scopes. That's if the...

No one is disputing that. It's the newer, high BC bullets that are in question, especially in shorter barrels.

    223/for distance

It seems like downloading isn't really the way to go. I've just picked up a new rifle that hope to get back into PRS with in 6.5CM. If I decide I need less recoil/cheaper ammo I'll just go for 223 I think. 223 for medium range matches (inside 800) and 6.5CM for longer range (moat targets being...
