New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
I think carbonbased is on to something with the 33 and the 22i. I still feel like the 33 would get a lot of use from me, and the best all around option. The biggest thing in question is standing glassing height may be slightly short, which is the least of my concerns.
So is carrying a 22i on a pack for field matches doable/fine? I'm pretty sure I've seen this in some media stuff and I think a guy at Mammoth was. Not much different than sticking your rifle on there right?
I'm starting to think 22i might really be the only option. I really don't want a 34L due to weight and 4 leg sections, and I've seen a lot of people sell and say they were unhappy with the 24L.
Have you used the TVC-33 mentioned above? It seems to check a lot of boxes and is on 3 leg sections instead of 4. I'm 6'+. I do like the 22i but 38" sucks for a lot of things. I'm still very undecided but I'd like to get something soon. It does seem that the 22ic is simply too short for me.
To the folks that have or have had the RRS 22iC compact, is it one of the best do-all options available now? Primary uses are hunting and sniper matches, so weight and deployment speed are the 2 most important things. I understand it's shorter than the 22i, but should be just tall enough to...
There's an absolute ton of fawns in our area this year, lots of doubles and triples. Sizes varying dramatically. That one doesn't look too small. There will need to be lots of herd thinning this year.
Sometimes these short barrels in 6.5cm can be finicky with Sd's and certain powder. I think if you aren't using a fast enough powder, there is too much unburned and it gets a little weird. H4350 can be borderline it seems, and maybe dependent on bullet and barrel.
If you want a good scope and reticle to compete with, that is still durable and passes drop tests, get the zeiss s3 6-36. I love mine and it has held up well.
If that had the standard a3 forend it would, I'm looking for something for my 300wsm elk rifle, so it needs the 1 piece floorplate and the lower bulk and weight of the straight a3. Thanks for reaching out.
Do any of you sophisticated m70 and spr enthusiasts have a spare mcmillan a3 stock you aren't using that you'd like to sell? Midwest gunworks doesn't have anymore left. Would also consider a manners of similar shape as well.
Just as an update I love mine and got zero slippage and zero mirage at the last prs match I shot with it. I'm actually amazed at how well it performed.
