    Mk 13 Mod 0 stock

I had mine built with the A191 chamber as well and it seems to like 220 SMK at 3.500” which I believe is the OAL for Mk248 ? Anyway it works well at that length and bullet. I’m using H1000 in Black Hills match brass to try to duplicate a mild version of Mk248 but with 74.0 grains versus the...

    FBI Sniper Rifles

No offense taken at all it’s all good. Tone is always hard to interpret in text only but no worries I didn’t take it as such. Would hate to derail an awesome thread like this. Enjoying the depth of material you have posted here, as I said earlier these rifles and others like the early NSWC...

    FBI Sniper Rifles

Sorry my bad, the subject came up and I contributed to a little thread drift there. Back to FBI stuff which is very cool. Again thanks for sharing all of this data and excellent photos.

    FBI Sniper Rifles

My understanding is that McMillan won’t replicate the smear pattern seen in late 70’s early 80’s stocks. I built an M40A1 clone on a Mcm GP stock I purchased in the early 90’s and it was the same jersey cow pattern they use today. They did make a run of “pseudo smears” for a particular gunsmith...

    FBI Sniper Rifles

Doesn’t the Mod 7 use a Stiller Tac300 ( Stamped “Mk13” by Stiller) reciever? The pictured rifle looks like an Rem 700 long action, which they have used forever.....

    FBI Sniper Rifles

I‘m going to guess that’s a USSS Countersniper? Haven’t seen their latest rifles but guess that’s it. The jethro sized binoculars are pretty standard for the Secret Service Sniper teams as well.

    FBI Sniper Rifles

This is awesome thanks for all the details on these otherwise overlooked setups. Maybe it’s my age but I find the first generation 80’s and 90’s pre internet guns hard to find info on. Thanks for sharing this wealth of information about these rigs And your experiences with them.

    FBI Sniper Rifles

Awesome photo, nice rig. Looking closer at the screen captures I posted wondering if that first rifle being held is actually a Model 70? Thanks again there’s not much data out there on these early rifles

    FBI Sniper Rifles

Thanks for the heads up, I didn’t know FBI had 2 levels but it makes sense now that you pointed it out. I just presumed that HRT was their only level of specialized response but I guess every field office must have an intermediate level of response as well.

    FBI Sniper Rifles

They had some variations of Remingtons built back in the 80’s and 90’s that can be seen on some vintage YouTube videos on the HRT that one can find. If that’s the era you and looking at... Some were straight up M40A1 copies, and used Unertl 10x scopes, later versions had the same barreled...

M24 SWS Clones and Collections - let see them.

Thanks, I tracked down each item individually over a more than a few years. Watching the Top Sniper competitions from Ft Benning on TV got me hooked and making a hybrid like some of the rifles seen in the International Sniper Competition. The DBM is a quick swap if I want to shoot the rifle in...

M40 - What Marine is in this photo?

Great article good find. Again my memory on the SOF article is a bit foggy, and I’m not sure what their level of journalistic accuracy is either.

M24 SWS Clones and Collections - let see them.

My contribution, a clone built before the rebuilds and new production guns were available.

M40 - What Marine is in this photo?

Haha my memory wasn’t as bad as I thought. The book “ Confirmed Kill” includes the story and I had the name correct, Cpl Tom Rutter a Marine Sniper in Beirut...

M40 - What Marine is in this photo?

I’m going to date myself but I recall seeing that photo for the first time in SOF magazine back in the 80’s. Will comb through my library and see if I can find any reference. To the best of my recollection the name provided was Tom something..... Rutter? My memory is not precise on this one...

    Army M24 Build Thread

Can confirm that the Pelican 1120 works as it fit exactly in the recess in my Hardigg case, right down to all the imprints of the case seams and lid in the foam lining. I picked mine up from an outdoor equipment store.
