New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
I have an Ares 20-60x....HD glass. It does everything I need it to, and more. I honestly don't know how much better an image I would get for a $6k top of the line spotter....but I doubt it would be worth it for my needs.
The factory barrel is good, shot .5 - .75 moa essentially. Its a button rifling barrel. The Hawk Hill is a cut rifled barrel and shoots .25 - .5 moa. Even if I screw up, .75 moa.
Athlon is the new Vortex....ok, maybe a couple of years ago you could say that....Athlon has proven to be a very good company with some outstanding scopes. I'm partial to the Japanese built Cronus BTR...and now the Gen2 version. Built by LOW, the same place that builds the Vortex Razor Gen2 as...
Which SCS...is it just a rifle length one? I see many listed so want to pick the right one.
Would a Geissele Super Braided 42 rifle length work with a 5.4 oz buffer? If I went the traditional route? Would I want a heavy or standard buffer?
Waiting on a Craddock build, 22" barrel. Getting my lower in order. For a rifle length buffer tube, which spring/buffer combo would work best? Not shooting suppressed.
I know nothing about the JP Silent Capture system. Is it true you remove the buffer retaining pin if run the JP?
Thanks for...
That was so long ago....and so many scopes ago.....you made me wonder. I pulled out my old Rite in the Rain notebook from that contract. I wrote down it was a MR/T 3-9x with M3 knobs. Standard mil-dot reticle and I want to say it was a SFP reticle.
This was same rifle as Haley....issued by same company at a Northern site. Only difference is this rifle had different elevation knob, not the M1 turret. Issued to me in 2005 at FOB Danger. Our zero range was down by the river....some raghead shot at me and my partner from the cliffs...
JP 34mm 0moa (no cant) Cantilever scope mount. Flat top for mounting accessories, 5 screw base with picatinny lug. It does have a scuff on the cantilever below the ring pictured as well as a little resin residue inside the rings.
I bought this used on SH. Great mount, scope did not have a lot...
Somebody posted the Midway USA link that had these on clearance for $499. Looked too good to pass up for a Japanese built scope...love my LOW built Cronus's.....Croni (plural)....which I have 2. Hopefully JOL would make an equally impressive scope.
Took my Cronus BTR 4.5-29x in Geissele 20 moa...
I'm in the queue with Craddock.....acquiring ammo as we speak. Scope and mount are in hand.
Anyone with a Craddock .224 Valkyrie.....would love to hear about your rifle.....pictures too please.
Looking to have a .224 Valkyrie complete upper built.....either Compass Lake Engineering or Craddock Precision.
Craddock is out of parts and cannot give a timeline yet....could be many months.
CLE quoted a 10-12 week build time.
Both would be with a Bartlein 1/7 22" barrel.
Is one...
Looking to buy a Complete Precision Upper in .224 Valkyrie. JP or Craddock only. 1/7 or 1/6.5 , at least a 22" barrel. Low round count and no problems with. Let me know before I place a barrel order with Craddock and start the long wait. Thanks.
The more, the better. You may not be able to use the high end due to mirage or other factors....but better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
I have an Athlon Ares 20-60 x80 ED Glass.....great spotter that won't break the bank.
It's listed at Camera Land NY.....
I have an Athlon Ares that smoked this Bushnell Elite.....still have the Athlon and use it regularly. Couldn't sell the Bushnell fast enough. I don't think Athlon makes this spotter any longer, but I'd look at their Cronus spotter. Best value in the optics world IMHO.
Rob01....I know you are a Vortex guy but curious if you have any hands on time with an Athlon Cronus BTR.....and what you thought of it.
Secondly.....I don't have a rifle for it, but I bought a Crimson Trace Series 3......too good of a deal to pass up. Hope it's as good as I've read
