Reloading For The AR-15: Swaging Primer Pocket Crimps

Been using the RCBS swage for 48 years, done a few cases and agree with Molon that swaging is the best method. Had a chance to borrow the Dillon unit when doing a large batch once. Found it to be far faster. YMMV, good shooting either way.

Picture of a group with 6.5 Creedmoor, Guess the round count...

Group was shot at 100 yards, sorry for the 10 meter air gun enthusiasts... I guess if I had thought up a better way to have the members "guess" at the barrels relative round count we all might have gained from this. Truth be told if you chose under 3,00o how could you loose? I do...

Picture of a group with 6.5 Creedmoor, Guess the round count...

So the answer is that the above pictured 5 shot group was rounds 1924 - 1929. Rifle is a Rem 700 with a custom barrel, Jewel trigger, in the factory HS stock wearing a Leupold 8.5 X 25 LRT. ReaperDriver's picture of the throat area actually is from this barrel about 70 rounds prior. Thank...

There is no over 3000 round count because this is the first poll I ever tried to post, if it can be edited, I would be glad to run the numbers up.

My buddy won the AR lottery (not the good kind)

A blown primer in the gas key! I thought that only happened to me. I did not continue firing after my mishap. Found a small drill bit caught the culprit like an easy out. I figured no one would belive me.

    155.5 Fullbore loads.

Years back, many, I worked up to a velocity of 2980 in my 26" Rock Creek barreled .308 Win using Varget with the 155.5 Berger. Several other shooters here also worked the beyond book area with equal success. Suffice it to say great bullet and powder match up.

    Bullet seating depth

If I changed my powder in the above set of conditions and successfully worked up a new precision load time and materials allowing I would then check seating depth's affect on that new load.

    The First Thousand Shots

Just want to say keep up the good work Justin, enteraining, thought provoking and dare I say amusing at times. I definately don't know anything and work hard at keeping it that way.

So what is the going rate for primers?

Last week I traded 2K Fed 210's for 2 K Fed 205's, head to head two happy shooters. Just balancing my inventory as was the other guy.
