New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
I like these indicators but they are way too sensitive. They indicate when a competitor hits the post instead of the steel target. Also, if you have a multiple array of targets hanging off a common shaft, hitting one target sets off the others on that array.
As to physically mounting them...
Ok , now we are getting closer
You have a new “ victrix” rifle in .22 cal with a 26” barrel with m18 threads
With a m18 to 5/8-24 adapter the .30 cal suppressor shoots dime sized groups
With a m18 to 1/2-28 adapter the 22 sparrow suppressor POI shifts over 12” and groups size is 1” compared to...
That was extremely hard to read. Further decoding of that mess with assumptions:
You have a new rifle (victrix) and are no longer using the 10/22 or 457.
Your “Victrix” rifle has swappable barrels.
You have a .30 cal barrel and a .22 barrel, both threaded
You are using m18 thread adapters...
My absolute best target ever shot indoors at 50 yards, tuner testing Anschutz 1710 off a one piece rest. 5 round groups with a lot a center x that rifle liked. Best group of 5 shot that day measured .090” (EDIT ADD: BEST GROUP WAS .072” ctc WHEN DOUBLE CHECKING NOTES AND PHOTOS) Was...
I used to shoot a 20” CTR in the factory stock for NRA silhouette hi power for a couple years. Used a Karsten style cheek riser for a decent cheek weld.
Gave upon it as a it’s typical tikka, great accuracy but slow, and I rang about 20-25% of my ram hits in 6.5cm with 140-147 ELDM’s, no score...
I regret getting it in 20” as tikka factory (typical) barrels are very accurate but on the slower side. I bought it to shoot NRA silhouette comps as a factory rifle and I don’t have enough speed to generate enough ke to reliably knock down the rams with 140, 143, or 147 gr bullets. I ring...
Shim the rear to give you more elevation/distance.
Better yet, get the right base to begin with and avoid problems with inconsistent precision and accuracy. By shimming, you are wedging parts and introducing stress. Will that stress affect your rifle? Same argument I have against shimming...
Be interesting to see if you can get the Kidd barrel into the summit action. My PWS summit action is so tight I cant get a Kidd Barrel in there even with a heat gun and cold barrel. Heat gun has always worked on every other 10/22 action I have.
So far I've put two ruger and one fedderson...
No rimfire match using steel targets allows any .17 cal. due to target damage. Availability of .17 ammo is also an issue as is the quality of it. You would be better off with a 22lr if you want to shoot matches.
Savages are usually pretty accurate but the failure rate that I’ve seen with...
Which day did you catch it on? 2nd day does not have a lot of instruction and is usually an AQT target grind with some misc refinement instruction here and there. Almost all the instruction on the pistolseed I attended was on the first day. It is geared towards newbies: how to hold single...
Corrected spelling as your original text was not understandable….
Thanks for the info, nice to see Ruger up their quality game with a decently milled receiver finally. Pretty decent write up at rfc...
Anschutz magazine system for the 17xx 54 series rifles suck ass. Old outdated design from the middle of last century folded sheetmetal housing. Most ppl don’t know the housing is adjustable. Lots of tinkering to get it reliable if you have problems. Took me almost half a year to get the one...
These are way, way better than the 1-4x that SWFA currently sells (I have both). Eye relief and image quality are pretty decent, Japanese manufacturing. No longer made, a bit heavy. Good luck with sale
Buying something for future use 6-10 years from now? Not the path I would take as technology and other circumstances are always changing. Personally I would get something that is a known good performer today. Will CA be around in 5-10 years in case you find an issue with it when you finally...
You guys welding stainless and galvanized should probably read this 2 page OSHA advisory:

Hex 6 is no joke
This is actually a pretty good deal. The stock you can order from boyds as aftermarket has hard angular plastic pieces on the hand grip and forearm areas that the stock CZ one does not have. The stock CZ is much nicer feeling as it is rounded over wood without angular edges.
