Sidearms & Scatterguns 2024 shooting goals. Maybe the Pirate will help

The Production Division was intentionally made restrictive to add challenge to the game. USPSA is not training for a concealed carry situation, it's a game where you're drag racing with a gun. Once the restrictions that made Production unique were eliminated, it became limited-10 minor, which...

Sidearms & Scatterguns 2024 shooting goals. Maybe the Pirate will help

Limited was, for the vast majority of USPSA history, the most popular division. We still have L-10 and Revolver, but in those days where they were kept past their usefulness, dots were not allowed outside of Open. Now that the board has decided that all they care to encourage is open and open...

Any mountain bikers out there 2.0

I have two Onyx hubs and they are really great. If I build a wheelset, that's what I use. Absolutely not. If you have a mountain bike with any front derailleur, you should really try a new mountain bike of any brand. You will be shocked at how much technology has changed. I have at least...

Sidearms & Scatterguns 2024 shooting goals. Maybe the Pirate will help

Production division is dead anyway, as is Limited. I don't think anyone cares what someone does in those divisions and they'll be gone from the sport soon.

    Reloading startup?

I found those to be wobbly and I have not used them since. The hand tool can do thousands of cases over a few nights after work, so I've just never seen the need for a powered trimmer. I do have every tool in that picture though, besides what they are calling the "decapper and base" and...

    Reloading startup?

Hand primer is good. Get yourself an electronic scale that will do .1 g and a powder dispenser like the RCBS Chargemaster. I use a Lyman that is similar and slower but only because it's what I have had forever. A lee hand trimmer is like 10 bucks and I have one for every rifle cartridge, as...

Cz 457 vs tikka T1x for precision 22

I recently had to make this choice and I went with the Tikka because I had a friend who had one that shot very well. I have had it out once so far but once zeroed the first two three shot groups I shot with it at 50 yards with good ammo were just over .2". I'm recovering from knee surgery...

    ARFCOM permaban

There would be a certain sweet justice if a lawsuit brought all of the shenanigans of that community before a judge, but I agree, we really don't care other than for the laughs.

Sidearms & Scatterguns 2024 shooting goals. Maybe the Pirate will help

I got to something like 72%, just shy of A class, without much dry firing. I found it boring and couldn't put in the time. I probably just didn't want it bad enough. As to dots on pistols, I find it hard to believe that'll ever grow on me. I'm 40 years old and I don't want to learn something...

Sidearms & Scatterguns 2024 shooting goals. Maybe the Pirate will help

I didn't say it was an easy decision, but I'm focusing on other things.

First 100 days - your '24 wish list

It sounds like all you care about is what the government can benefit from its people. Taxes? Really? The evidence that immigration (legal or illegal) has net positive results is well established. I don't think you really care about the facts, but if you do, you won't agree with where I tell...

First 100 days - your '24 wish list

The framers would NEVER, none of them, not even the federalists, support empowering the national government in this way. So yes, I absolutely believe that. The framers would support armed revolution before they would allow the national government control over something so important. They...

First 100 days - your '24 wish list

That isn't going to change the fact that our population is aging and the birth rate is at all-time lows. Capitalism requires that labor be able to flow over the border where there are jobs. Presently, there is considerable unmet demand for people to work, a problem that will continue and get...

Sidearms & Scatterguns 2024 shooting goals. Maybe the Pirate will help

I'm glad I clicked on this thread. I'm sitting here on Christmas Eve working on my rifles and thinking about my rifle goals for 2024. After 15+ years of shooting USPSA, I gave up my membership last summer because it seems pretty likely that the people at the top (some of which I considered...

First 100 days - your '24 wish list

Whatever you think positive would happen from "securing" the border would simply ensure the economy does not grow and your social security dollars would go further into the shitter with no growth of the work force. FYI: anyone who tells you they're a capitalist but wants the government to...

    MDT Oryx Chassis

I'm familiar with the procedure and what it would take to do it. I'm simply not willing to add a simple feature that they subtracted from their product for no reason. I don't know why they don't just offer the aluminum piece that had the QD attachment in it as an accessory if they don't want...

    MDT Oryx Chassis

I'm not going to do that. Drilling a hole that big in a chunk of metal is something that should be done in a production facility, not someone's garage. A simple sling mount on both sides is a feature every stock should have. And one this had until a pointless redesign to subtract a feature.

    MDT Oryx Chassis

That is really a shame that you did that. I am back to the drawing board looking for a chassis now. I don't want my sling mount on the bottom of the rifle. It is inconceivable to me how that ever seemed like a good idea to eliminate the simple QD mount that was there.

    .308 Winchester

I think you'll find (as have many benchrest shooters) that flat base bullets are more consistent in the real world, even though there is no obvious reason to believe they're inherently more accurate other than that they're easier to make consistently.

    .308 Winchester

For 200 yards your twist rate probably doesn't even matter. The best shooting bullets at that distance are going to be lighter, flat base bullets. My 308 was a 12 twist and the last thing I saw through the scope before I sent it to the gunsmith for a new barrel was my bullet hitting a 5" steel...
