    Whats everyone using for 35mm rings. Trying to find the lowest possible for a 18x MK 5 on a hunting setup. I think the lowest ive found is .95". Is there just not enough meat left on them to go lower?

    Look up Jay Scott Outdoors. He has some great YouTube videos and Podcasts on the subject. He'll also tell you that it is way to easy to screw up a bugle and blow a hunt. He's a strong believer in cow calls only. Buy a bugle tube and start practicing.

    For a real quality elk hunt, start searching states with quality animals. Utah, NM, AZ and Nevada are home to giant bulls. Contact some outfitters and they will help you pick some choices. Epic Outdoors is a great company to help with tag apps and odds.

    Sitka makes the best pants. The KUIU and Kryptek are extremely baggy and snag on everything. Kuiu is nice and light but the Sitka take a beating much better. Every pair of my KUIU pants (4 pairs) had small tears with one season of use. Cant say that about the Sitka ones.

    Nevada has a really good non resident guided antlered mule deer program. Several units in the state a guy could draw on his first year. See 100+ animals a day. Going through the guided draw has way better odds then the general draw for non residents. Its open right now for the next 4 weeks.

    Black Mountain Outfitters is a good bunch of guys and does several states including NM and AZ. If your willing to spend the money, Vermejo Park Ranch outside Raton NM is amazing. But runs about 16k for a trophy bull hunt.
