    Swiss K31: Stunning

Because why not. Ergonomics get way better, and (unlike in the US) K31s in Switzerland are the most common surplus rifle. In very good mechanical condition there's plenty of them for 150-200 Swiss Francs (roughly = USD).

    Swiss K31: Stunning

    And here's a K31-based 300m ISSF std. rig.

Greatest semi-auto battle rifle in history..

A side-by side fun shoot this summer. (All original full auto, except the SVD, which is original semi). The Dragunov SVD does not qualify as "main battle", so it is G3 for me.

    DA or individual values?

DA is faster to use. This being said, unless you are using a temperature-insensitive powder, you need temperature anyway, to get the V0 right (in which case you might as well go for pressure + temperature).

    TRASOL vs Strelok Pro

In terms of accuracy, both are valid, it boils down to personal preferences for the interface. Functionally, Strelok Pro has the advantage of integrating Lapua Doppler Cd curves (only useful if you shoot Lapua, more precise than generic models). On the other hand, Trasol has a much cleaner and...

Advanced Marksmanship What's the free group size phone app?

https://taran.ptosis.ch/taran.html should work on mobile devices too, offline too.

    Which K31?

The "P" mark in front of or near the serial number simply indicate that the weapon was officially passed from army property into Private property of the soldier upon the end of military service; this is not an indicator of quality or manufacturer. Haemmerli (hammer in a circle) barrels tend to...

Range Report Calculating BC with numbers from Labradar

Though about it; wouldn't work -- the measurement distance is insufficient.

    Ballistics app for windows?

There's also this one: https://sourceforge.net/projects/ballisticcalculator/ free and open source This is a honest by-the-book 3DOF, developed (translated to C#) from the last open source release of JBM with a few features added and a few bugs corrected.

What's your favorite App for 2017 (iOS & Android)?

For me -- no winner yet (Android platform); in the field, good old range cards still work better. Trasol's got a very nice and smart user interface, but does not understand Lapua curves, and last time I looked V0-vs-temp variations had to be done manually. AB has a rather clumsy UI, and a couple...

    .223 long range

It's definitely feasible. As many people have already said in the thread, the key is the bullet -- it's got to be stable in transonic. Then, of course, any bullet in this calibre is very sensitive to wind. For me, shooting a Stgw90 at 1km over a valley was, and remains, the most instructive wind...

    K31 or Win.M70 Ultimate Shadow .308

True, original K31 iron sights are not particularly easy to use for precision shooting. All shooters competing in "300m military rifle" category in Switzerland mount dioptres+tunnels (there's plenty of options available). Also, mounting a scope on a K31 is much harder than it seems -- the...

Anyone Here Shoot 7.5x55 Swiss? GP11 FTF

GP11 is very reliable, and the manufacturing process (powder, primer and bullet sealing) has been designed for a very long shelf life. I doubt that it is the cartridge. I own 6 or 7 K31s, shoot a couple of thousand GP11 per year, and see *a lot* of it shot around me; the only failures to fire...

    Muzzle Brakes

A good compromise between rear/side blast and recoil reduction is Steyr's brake model used on SSG 04 and 08. The idea is the same as for the muscle brake mentioned above -- the first chamber is oriented forward to let most of the noise go where it belongs, the next two chambers actually...

Rifle Scopes 2014's Best Scope ShootOut

Here we are! I was expecting it. As a consequence, this puts into question the results of "optical performance" tests, as these depend on "18x", which was very likely set wrong. Thanks for getting it through an other independent test.

Range Report Applied Ballistics Kestrel; Pro staff support thread

I wish future AB kestrels support rely on simple operations (e.g. XML file push over OBEX) rather than a heavy OS-specific client software, to allow for native Linux and Mac hacks. When faced with paying an OS license and running a full-blown virtual machine, just to support a piece of hardware...
