New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
Athlon 2.5-15 Ares BTR Gen 2 with a Bering Optics Super Yoter C Gen2. I ran a minox ZP 5 3-15, but the parallax minimum is 50 yards. The 10 yard parallax on the Athlon and the 2.5x is a huge improvemant with the clip on.
I had a hard time getting the 80s to shoot better than the 87s. I use Rl16 for the 87s and couldn't get the 80s to shoot under 1 moa with it. Switched to H4350 and the faster I shot them the better they grouped.
Got out Sunday night for a couple of quick sets. Had one howl at us about a half a mile away so I moved 400 yards closer and he ended up sneaking in around behind us and I made the shot at 107 yards. Had a hard time finding the entrance and there was no exit. 80 grain ELD-VT did its job.
Took the wife out for her first night hunt last Friday, only went a couple of miles from the house. She had my scanner and we got withing 30 yards of a skunk that was upwind of us. He ran at us and we scooted about 50 yards and made him happy. Had coyotes howling before I turned on the call and...
I had it direct attached to my scope, but found I had to re-zero whenever I took it off and put it back on. I went with the chassis mount and didn't have to change a thing. The fov is the same and the zero doesn't change when I take it off and back on.
I sighted it in at 8x and have done a majority of my shooting at night out to 350 or so at 2.5x. It all depends on the wind here in Kansas. I like to get them close, the longer shots are only when they hang up or are going away. I am using the Vortex Impact 4000 for ranging them. The Super Yoter...

I have been using this setup. Mine came with 4 batteries, this one comes with 8. Two of the batteries have stopped taking a charge, so I bought 4 of the Jesspow off of Amazon.
Mine is a Tikka, super smooth action and a great trigger for not being custom. I pulled the factory barrel after 60 rounds and went with a 20" Carbonsix. It hammers with 147s over N565.
I have had great luck with my 20" 6.5 PRC barrel. I have a 18" 6.5 Creedmoor barrel with 60 rounds down it that I don't shoot anymore. Both are Tikka pre-fits.
