    Winchester M70

Since we are all M70 fans here, I thought you might enjoy seeing this one. 1965, first year push feed, in 308. Factory across-the-course and any-any rifle setup, ordered from WIN as a complete rifle/sights/scope combo. Best I can tell it's been to the range once or twice for zeroing, but...

Trigger for a 6mmARC? Will be used for hunting and learning to dope the wind

" I like the Geissele Hi-Speed National Match two stage for ARs. I have one in a 6mm ARC that I am finishing up. The SSA-E is also good too. I like light triggers and have the national match in my multi gun rifle. I felt the need to increase the pull weight slightly for multi gun" Giessele...

"The 223 DMR for 600-1000 is pissing in the wind. Must be a high master SR shooter." I've got 3 HM cards including getting the XC card with a SR. Oh and DR and 2xP100. The SDM/DMR weapons system (w Mk 262 ammo) is rated for 80% hit percentage on the E silhouette at 700 meters. It is capable...

    LocTite rings?

My gunsmith turned me on to Loc Tite Purple 222. I like to have it in place for vibration resistance. It's also reusable a few times in case you do need to remove or move things around in the field. BTW Red is not permanent. It just takes more heat to release it. Once you reach that temp...

Monthly Sporting Rifle match RATON NM

Just drove thru NM across 40 yesterday and today. One casino was advertising that if you were from out of state you didn't need a mask at their casino. Party on Wayne. Party on Garth.

Black Hills 77GR OTM 5.56mm Red Box 500 Round cases in stock

My go-to carbine is a RRA. As a service rifle shooter I've gone Distinguished/P100/High Master with RRA-based rifles. Never had an issue with them and would buy again if I needed more ARs. Doesn't mean others had different experiences. Back when the junior SR club bought the CMP Bushmaster...

Black Hills 77GR OTM 5.56mm Red Box 500 Round cases in stock

Yea tell all the SOF guys to stop running mk262 because someone on the internet said it was unreliable due to the 77 gr SMK sitting on top. I'm sure they will heed the warning. Not to mention 1000+ competitors at the Camp Perry national matches every August shooting the Service Rifle.

Question on FL-Sizing and Multiple Rifles

You can do the same thing with some simple math and a black sharpie.

Question on FL-Sizing and Multiple Rifles

You need to figure out how close the headspace is on the three rifles. With that info you may or may not be able to have one sizing dimension for the brass. For a field rifle you want .002"-.003" shoulder setback for reliability on the shortest chamber of the 3. If that that translates to...

A little help with primers please

My go-to is Remington. Brassman used to have plenty available 1x for cheap for Service Rifle match loads. I also load a lot of LC for DMR and carbine loads. Nothing wrong with it once you work out a system to remove the primer pocket crimps. Learned a long time ago to avoid Federal. 10x...

A little help with primers please

federal brass sucks. I've had necks split on the first loading. As far as "knowing" pmax, numbers on a page mean nothing. Assume every variable needs varification. Also you are wasting effort varying seating depth on mag length loads. set them .100" short of max OAL and drive on. Save the...

Dial vs Holdover - does range matter to you?

Yes you learn rapidly to either cover the knob or zero the knob when done with a target. Elevation is static; wind is dynamic in comparison.

Dial vs Holdover - does range matter to you?

Dial for elevation, hold for wind, and cover your windage knob. Dialing for wind is a sure fire way to have a miss the next time you get down on the rifle, be it in 2 minutes or 2 days. Add in learning to hold for elevation under time constraints and progressive target strings with multiple...

BREN gun semi-auto build...vintage sniper? 1.5 MOA groups. VIDEO UP!

Same comment here when seeing all the stick welding nastiness - TIG is very available, both the machines and the skill set, for such a job.

    TBAC Suppressor Cleaning

After taking up shotgunning again after a 30 year layoff I did some research on alternative cleaners beyond the gun industry stuff. We are chasing carbon and plastic layered buildup. Cut the carbon and the plastic follows BTW. After reading suggestion after suggestion and researching the...

    Large Rifle Primer Failure

That's a totally incorrect explanation. Excessive headspace allows the whole cartridge to move forward, reducing the effective firing pin protrusion, which would lead to a shallower primer strike. Firing pin protrusion is mechanically limited to a specific distance. I'm chasing a struck...

    Large Rifle Primer Failure

No powder will do that as will not seating then CRUSHING the primer the correct amount to engage the anvil with the priming material. All modern priming tools are set up to add the appropriate amount of crush then stop.
