    With the Hornady 140 eldm I was at 40.3 and 2700 FPS. I switched over to Stabal 6.5 and to get the same velocity I had to go to 41.6 gr. I recently switched to the Hornady 123 eldm at 43.7 of Stabal 6.5 @2900 FPS. They shoot flatter all the way to 1000 yards.

    I have a JP with the +2 barrel. When I first got it shooting it with light loads the brass was black(ejecting to soon) and the ejector swipe required filing. This was Lapua brass. Like you I went with 3 tungsten weights and the red/silver spring. That cured the soot but not the the ejector...

    Your throat is pretty short for the 85.5. If you want to shoot the heavy bullets you’ll need to ream your throat to .169 so you can get a long OAL of at least 2.55.     The 77 gr works fine out to 600 yards but after that the 90 gr. SMK does much better. Seat them long so you can get enough powder in the case to get 2750-2800 FPS.     Check out the Savage LRPV single shot. And I would go with a 7 twist so you can shoot the heaviest bullets. You could also go to Northland Shooters Supply and buy the lrpv receiver and put a good barrel and trigger on it.

    do i need to turn necks

    Try turning your necks and see if it helps. Chuck a case in a drill and use some fine sandpaper to take it down a .001 on a few cases. I had the same problem with my JP ar10 and I turned the necks and the pressure went away.

    Neck turning & ARs

    I have to turn my necks on my JP 6.5 CM as the chamber is so tight that you can’t slide a bullet into a fired case. So far no problems with the cases, but I catch the cases.
