    Hunting with large frame AR

Sadly 2A Arms got bought out and from what I understand, they are not made anymore, but they use to build extremely light receiver sets and rifles. You might find a used rifle if you look. Google 2A Xanthos 6.5. Below is an old thread where I built one. I still have it and a 308. They are...

    Boots for Large men

This is exactly how my La Sportiva Makalu’s lasted 25 years; I only wore them hiking and hunting. They actually are still going strong, but my feet have changed and I’ve gone up in size and width a little. They don’t fit anymore and that’s the only reason I replaced them. They are actually a...

    Boots for Large men

I bought a pair last October from their store in Bozeman. The break in period was a non issue and significantly easier than my last boot which was a La Sportiva Makalu. The Macs took me two years to break in before mole skin was no longer needed to prevent blisters. They were awesome after...

Emotional roller coaster: 6 powder droppers in < 3 years!

You’ll have to look closely in the picture. I used a combination of walnut I had lying around and a old RCBS metal adapter that allowed you to mount the powder dropper off to the side of a press if you didn’t have a powder dropper stand; it came in the Jr Press kit I got 44 years ago and I...

Emotional roller coaster: 6 powder droppers in < 3 years!

Wow, I didn’t know they stopped. Their trickler is outstanding, if they are not going to offer it as a stand alone, I hope they get their whole unit out soon.

Emotional roller coaster: 6 powder droppers in < 3 years!

I used a hand trickler before I figured out I could use an Ingenuity trickler and V3 brains in my Fx120 and for sure, this set up is much faster than my hand trickling. It just doesn’t auto drop, but the cost to get it to do that, whenever it actually comes out, is not worth it to me. If I...

Best caliber for big game at 400 plus yards

Depends on what kind of elk hunting; guided on a giant private ranch, horse back on public land, or solo backpacking? Personally, I’ve killed two with the good old 7 mag, both under 100 yards. Third was killed with a 300 win mag. I like the 30 Cal’s better with a good bonded bullet or a...

Emotional roller coaster: 6 powder droppers in < 3 years!

You are making me glad I stuck with my RCBS powder dropper I got 44 years ago and mounted it above my FX120i scale that has a Ingenuity Trickler powered by a V3 brain to top off the dropped charge. All I have to do is pull the handle.

IT’S OFFICIAL: NPR and PBS Have Been Permanently Defunded!

Yeah and do it in even more nefarious ways. Unless heads roll, the problem will eventually get worse.

    Buying a plane after retirement

Dude, like others have said, rent before you buy and strongly consider a club to reduce costs. Buying a plane after retirement sounds like a golden pathway out of retirement back into the working world if you’re not careful.

    Garmin inreach 67i. Any comments

Are their maps worth the cost? Especially with a screen that small. I bought a 67i earlier this year and have been playing with it, but I’ve not used it on anything other than day hikes so far. I have OnX too. I drew a cow tag in unit 66A in Idaho for October, that’s where I plan to really...

    7 saum

I have some 208 Amax’s I should try them just to see what it’s capable of. The 143 ELDX has shot ridiculously well in three different 6.5 CM’s I’ve shot them in and haven’t been picky load wise either. For elk hunting though, I want a stout bullet. This barrel has a “two close together, one...

    7 saum

I hear ya! It’s supposed to be a long range bullet capable of expanding down to 1300 fps, but being bonded, hold up at speed. But ya need to be able to get them to group if you want to make hits a long range. I was disappointed the Partitions didn’t group, they are a consistent 3/4” grouper...

    7 saum

Testing R26 in my 20” barreled 300 WSM with 180 and 200 Accubonds, 200 Partitions, and 190 and 210 ABLR’s. So far I can get to 2800 with the 210’s, but it’s a 1.5” group. In my rifle, the best I’ve done is backing down to 2700 fps and running them .10” off. I have not length tested the 190’s...

That explains the delay in this instance. How did I miss that.

    Boeing down in India

WHAAAAT?!?!? 10-14 seconds?? That’s an eternity in this situation. Had that been me, it would not have taken more than 10-14 milliseconds to flip them back on, followed by me grabbing the crash ax and putting the pointed end through the PNF’s forehead 10-14 milliseconds later cause who knows...

    Fuck Pritzker

For sure that’s what happened. That county is basically Springfield, IL, another suburb of Chicongo. Apparently here’s all it takes to be Sheriff one day: https://newschannel20.com/news/local/paula-crouch-will-make-history-as-the-first-female-sangamon-county-sheriff

    Fuck Pritzker

Yeah and that quad sized douche didn’t work for any of his wealth either; it was handed to him. It’s funny how rich people who got rich by their own hard work are often decent people, but their kids and grandkids go down the toilet after inheriting their wealth. He would be another complete...
