    I still have a 2.5-10 NF NXS on 1 of my MWS rifles. As stated above, it’s either used on 2.5 or 10x. It’s an outdated optic but still works well enough that I haven’t felt the need to update it.

    Best corrosion protection for small steel parts?

    Why not just use Melonite/Nitride treated parts? Corrosion resistance is a major benefit of the treatment. ETA: your springs and detents inside the rifle are going to corrode in that environment eventually so regular maintanence is going to have to be done anyway.

    18" barrel - 13" or 16" handguard replacement?

    I like the look of the long handguard but can’t stand seeing bipods past the muzzle device when in the stowed position. Of course a suppressor fixes that aesthetic. Plus, if you have the bipod at the very end of the hand guard, you’ll see more poi shift when you go to a tripod/barricade.

    14.5” Intermediate and 16” rifle gas barrels seem to run fine. One of my buddies shoots a 14.5 and I have several 16” rifle gas set ups. I get the “extreme reliability” claim but damn. It’s like Colt still using carbine gas on their 6920’s. Mid-length gas tubes must be cheaper. Lol
