O/U 12g Shotgun Top Tier Recommendations

Kolar makes a nice gun, not sure I would say they were the best but they do run with the other big names. Blaser also makes a nice shotgun, I used to have an F3 before getting a K-80 Pro Sporter which I still have. The most important ingredient for you will be stock fit. It would be well...

Any feed back on brownells brn-180 uppers?

Hmm. May have to look at retrofitting my DD Mk18 SBR with one of these. Of course I would have to redo the stock to a folder also. What the heck, it’s just money.

    Source for Mauser magnum action?

To quote a wise man, “go be poor somewhere else.”:ROFLMAO: Edit: The price on the Prechtl action makes the $10k for a complete Mauser rifle look more reasonable. Supposedly, the GMA actions are 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of the Prechtls.

    Source for Mauser magnum action?

There is also Precthl, not sure how hard they would be to get here in the US: https://www.prechtl-waffen.de/system-mauser-m98-cat285.html To “feed the need for tweed“ I would find a nice vintage Rigby, H&H or Westley Richards.

    Source for Mauser magnum action?

I think GMA is still around. It’s too bad Mauser isn’t selling actions.

    Source for Mauser magnum action?

Take a look at Mayfair or Granite Mountain, here is a link that has some info on them: http://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/7971019521/m/8771018762 If you want the a classic that will retain its value, maybe look at a vintage or new Rigby.

Hensoldt Spotter 60: ARCA plates with anti-rotation pin?

I’ve got the RRS on my Spotter 45. If al you are looking for is the pin diameter I can measure that for you.

    Release triggers- why not?

Release triggers have their place in the clay sports but I don’t see one for precision rifles. That said, the Franklin Armory Binary triggers are a hybrid release trigger that’s been out there for a while for some semiauto rifles and carbines.

Hensoldt Spotter 60: ARCA plates with anti-rotation pin?

RRS also makes one, or at least they used to.

    ARC mausingfield vs Archimedes

It was a rifle I didn’t use so it got parted out. The Archimedes is as smooth, if not smoother, and I’m not a fan of the changes that went into the M7 (mine was a late production M5). Unless you need the lager bolt face or non-rotating extractor I don’t see any need for Mausingfield, the...

    ARC mausingfield vs Archimedes

I’ve owned both actions, used to own the Mausingfield (which I sold) and now only have the Archimedes. In my opinion, the Mausingfield isn’t worth the extra money. The only benefit you really have with it is the non-rotating extractor.

    Half Face Blades...

I bought one of their KenSOF models a couple of years ago before they went nuts in popularity. It’s got curly Koa scales with mosaic pins and is very high quality. These days, I don’t bother even looking at their site since there is nothing to see. Also hadn’t heard that the quality is slipping.

    Turkey brine recipe needed

Don’t know anything about Tyler beyond the turkey. My dad used to deliver the newspaper to Old Man Greenberg when he lived there as a kid back in the late 40s or early 50s.

    Turkey brine recipe needed

Have to read through all of this. I’m going to try my first turkey on the smoker next week, will be brining, spatchcocking and smoking on a Big Green Egg. Current plan is to use a brine recipe I found on the BGE site and to use post oak for the smoke. As an aside, have any of you ever had a...

Precision Rifle Gear Will we ever seen an all steel chassis?

Tungsten is for the Poors. For the rest of us, Rhenium is were it’s at.😁 Edit: Or, we could all be Poor and dream of that chassis made out of platinum/rhodium alLoy.

Precision Rifle Gear Will we ever seen an all steel chassis?

I was hoping concrete and rebar would be the pinnacle of chassis development.

Model 70 stock question- cross bolt plugs?

On a pre-64 cross bolts were only standard for the African Grade guns. Roger Rule’s book has information on the evolution of the number and style used on that model.
