New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
I felt like this scope didn't make a ton of sense to be drawn to with the somewhat small objective, but I was, and after I got it I realized it is a perfect match for a clip on on a tripod - it is more than adequate for the practical distances you'll use a 556 or 16" 308 at on pigs and yotes...
Big fan of the overly plain 11-87 Police model. I'd consider a 14" or less, particularly plus some suppression, absent further regulation.
"It cycles so much slower than a Benelli/Beretta!"
You can only put 2-3 rds of lead on target per second 🤠 but your shoulder will thank you in the...
If weight is a big concern, I could see the leupold, but if it isn't a primary rifle you're humping up a mountain I'd save the $500 and put it toward a clip on - the Vortex excels as a host, great for a clip on thermal at 2x-4X with the FOV.
I see the mount as a thread protector for the barrel - these are going on higher dollar barrels - and they also get moved around a bit,
If the HPA passes, I am likely to bit the bullet and get a couple more so there is no moving around.
RE Rocksett - I thought I cleaned it, alcohol, brake...
Yes. After that failed, I recently got some stuff that is supposed to be like Rocksett +, requires heat to cure - "Hot LocK" - but I haven't gotten around to doing anything semi-permanent between work and family.
I hate timed brakes/mounts, but I have a lot of them.
I have a Vortex PST 2-10 on my favorite 16" 556, great scope, I'd guess a RMR + 2-10 is not only less expensive, it retains the 1X at all times. $678 is a smoking deal
Very likely, see my 15 rounder - and, I go back to my original statement that the 30 rd G mag feels more than 1" larger than a USGI 30. In retrospect, Lancers are a little longer than standard.
Geissele 8, 15, 20 , 30 and a USGI 30.
Upon reflection, I'm asking my friendly local machine shop about punching holes in my existing TB mounts to match that Salmon Spanner, and considering going to the lefty tighty righty loosey for everything that is HUB'd.
I have 8, 15, 20 and 30. The 30s seem more than 1" larger FWIW.
I typically keep an 8 rounder in my lightweight and 15 or 20 in my bigger gal. I consider them precision rifles, I'm not particularly trigger happy unless we hit a ginourmous sounder.
You can't P&W a CB without the flats, or maybe I should say TB doesn't suggest it. There isn't a good flat area to get straight into. I'm sure a master machinist would shrug and do a good job, but it would cost more than the mount and alter the bbl without good cause.
ETA - I'm talking about...
I have those in 1/2x28, but I don't think they make them in 5/8.
The salmon river set up is only frustrating in that I have ... enough... TB mounts. Its all I have in me not to sell every one of them and upgrayyedd.
My main complaint with CB, which I use and have several of, is that (probably user/install error) they come off with the f'n can and in same cases have simply become direct thread. I've tried rocksett etc but as of yet I've yet to feel secure in the belief there is no chance I'm going to pull a...
