    Anderson AR $299

I bought a complete Anderson lower as part of a budget build fun gun. Fit and finish were fine, mated up to the upper just fine, damn thing shoots very well. I did put a better trigger in it. Which was also on sale.

    mid power scope $500-1k

If you are considering an HPVO, Midway currently has the PST II 5-25 on sale for 600 bucks. Not the best reticle, but it is such a damn good scope, it is hard to pass up. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1020648416?pid=872076

New to PRS – RPR vs. Tikka T3X – Looking for Experienced Insight

I picked up a grnd pod, I am very pleased with it so far, but for just 64 more dollars, the atlas Cal has a wider stance and is more suited to the competition world. The atlas is going to be more stable, my choice was for specific uses.

Rifle Scopes Deciding on deer rifle optic

There are so many options, if would make your head spin. On this site, folks love the Gucci shit, me included. A buddy of my shoots deer and more pigs than you can count every year with a cheap 3-9 sfp hunting scope. 350 yards? A good 2-7 would take care if the hunting. (Realistically). I have...

New to PRS – RPR vs. Tikka T3X – Looking for Experienced Insight

The way I understand it, if you put the Tikka in a new chassis, you are no longer in production class. They have the new model coming out, don't recall what it is called. I have experience with a gen 1 rpr. It is incredibly accurate for an out of the box gun. The current gen addresses the issues...

Vortex 2-10 PST vs 1-10 Razor

There are other companies besides vortex. A 10x erector is extremely hard to pull off. The razor is one of the better ones out there, and as noted, has compromises. As far as LPVO's, a 1-8 has fewer optical compromises. A 2-10, being a 5x erector, is an excellent choice. There are others besides...

Canadian Ranger rifles in the Arctic need replacements, don’t work in the cold

If they had used a manners or mcmillan they probably wouldn't be having the stock issues. Dry film moly lube is your friend in climates like that. I concur with the postulation of changing temps inside/outside.

    Barrel cleaning with alcohol

I run an alcohol patch followed by a dry patch on my work rifle. I find it helps prevent a cold bore shift. My other rifles, I leave a light coat of Hoppes #9 in the bore. Penetrating oil works well too. Needs to be cleaned out prior to shooting.

Older NightForce NXS 5.5-22x56mm vs. New Arken

As stated, that era of NF had "okay" glass, but they were typically very reliable. I concur that, even with a new DNT or Arken, it is a step down. However, you don't "need" to spend NF money to get a very good, reliable scope with a zero stop and good glass. Since you were considering Chinese...

Ideal .223 Bolt Action Plinker (?)

OP OP states he has a stash of 55 grain 223 ammo. Most likely M193 ball or generic 223 loads. He is not looking to handload match ammo, he wants a good, accurate plinker to shoot up his stash of ammo as he is bored with shooting it out of an AR. Handloading isn't on the table, buying more ammo...

Ideal .223 Bolt Action Plinker (?)

I have seen some 1-7 twist barrels that couldn't shoot 55's worth a shit (ball type ammo), since we are talking a stash of 55's, I'm guessing most are M193 loads, generally about 4 moa loads out of a good rifle. The 1-8 twist is an excellent compromise, fast enough to stabilize the 77's not so...

    Seekins ph2 rebarreling 300prc to 300win

Besides the retarded belt, the issues with the WM are that factory chambers are not cut to optimize high bc bullets. That may, or may not be an issue. The advantage of the WM is quality brass availability. Hell you can pick up good, once fired range brass.
