How important is Muzzle Brake Timing?

My only experience is with a loose muzzle brake which I can confirm definitely does have a big impact on accuracy. As to 20 degrees off it will look odd which would justify fixing it in my judgment. More importantly, it will affect how the rifle behaves under recoil which particularly with...

    Vibratory Tumbler Recommendations

+3 for Dillon. I overloaded mine with loaded ammunition and burned out the motor. The rep asked how old it was. I said around 15 years. He sent me a replacement for $100. Gets my vote.

    Powder dispenser for vihtavuori n570

Kernel sizes are too big for anything to weigh it accurately if you call +/- .02 accurate.. Fortunately, N570 loads are usually large enough that +/- .05 grains probably make no difference.

Coup De Grâce, New Action from American Rifle Company, $899 WOW!

This is what I would like to do as well. I have been watching carefully for information. I don't think the magazine catch will be the problem. Hawkins is good about sending modified parts. I read early on the CDG will not feed from the Hunter magazine. I'm hoping someone has the parts...

Sizing die with Mandrel vs Separate Mandrel Die

I use a mandrel as a separate step because I was finding pulling the sizing button (and maybe a mandrel) up to expand the neck was causing an inconsistent shoulder bump. Not sure why, but I'm guessing the shoulder is more able to resist pressure against downward force than upward.

    Case Gauges?

I have a few. I use them to confirm sizing is adequate although the Hornady gauge is better for shouldered rifle rounds and the plunk test for pistol barrels is as good. If I needed assurance that each and every round would chamber, I would drop each one in the case gauge. I almost never do...

Coup De Grâce, New Action from American Rifle Company, $899 WOW!

Agreed. If they were one pound lighter, they are all I would have. For PRS and other games, the weight is positive. I get that but I sure wish there was a lighter option.

    Caliber

I have not hunted in Africa, but have seen plenty of big buffs up close. They will try to kill you and then it's like trying to stop a tank. In the places I have been, it's a minimum of .375 H&H. Personally, I would want something starting with a 4 or a 5, preferably with double barrels...

BDM required for Coup De Grace Action

The above is basically correct. The easy button is to order your Manner's stock with an M5 DBM inlet for the Hawkins DBM bottom metal you want. Order DBM bottom metal from Hawkins with the latch for AW if that's the magazine you want to run. There are DBM brands other than Hawkins, but IMHO...

    Parts Bin Rifle

I have a long action CDG on order. The stock I have is cut for BDL bottom metal which will not work with the CDG. I have the box, spring, and follower, but no BDL floor plate. BDL floor plates are available for around $200 which makes the Origin idea a good one. This is kind of the heart of...

Good answer. Can the barrel installed on the Rebel be rethreaded for the Origin?

    Parts Bin Rifle

What was once a Defiance Rebel in a McMillan Hunters Edge stock LA with BDL inlet with a number 3 contour barrel chambered in 300 WM from I think a well known barrel manufacturer is now something else. What have left is the stock, the barrel, and the BDL box and spring. No bottom metal. No...

Coup De Grâce, New Action from American Rifle Company, $899 WOW!

I would appreciate some advice on feeding systems for these actions. I understand the CDG action is designed to feed from AW magazines. Great! What I don't understand is whether AW magazines (preferably five round magnum rounds) can be made to work with traditional Manners stocks, for...

    Wyatt box worth it?

I have a few so the simple answer is yes but there are several additional considerations. The first is your chamber. Is it throated to accept the longer COAL? If not, that can be fixed without much difficulty. A few of mine are limited in COAL not by the Wyatt box but by the chamber. I...

300wm as my first bolt action gun?

He also mentioned wanting to learn. I don’t disagree with the 6.5 CM choice, but a .223 is an insanely better choice for learning to shoot than 300 WM to use your your choice of words. 70 to 90 grain .223 bullets will definitely run with a .308 to 1,000 yards, cost less, and are a great round...

300wm as my first bolt action gun?

Good advice here particularly on the hard no on a magnum 30 cal for a rifle to learn on. In fact, I very tempted to recommend a .223. All of the above benefits plus longer barrel life and ammunition from the cheapest for learning to heavy bullets that will reach out just as far as the .308...
