If you have an airbrush you could use the C-series Cerakote. With the c-series there is no mixing or baking required. For spray can Brownells has a coating called alumahyde. I've heard good reviews on it.

IMO it is very possible. I have a short action 300 WSM that pushes a Berger 208 LRHT at 3030 out of a 26" with the right powder like RL26. The question is would it do it a mag length? My OAL is at 3.05 for the 300 WSM. I don't have any experience with the 7SS but it is possible.
