New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
No issue there then probably, although barrels can speed up early in their life and the velocity increase might throw your load accuracy out. Worth checking.
1:9 probably a touch slow but probably worth a trial. The 75 is a good bullet. I’ve had 0.3 minute out of a 22-250 8” twist, with a bit either side of that depending on my personal chimp factor at the time. Usable on varmints and pigs as well.
Thanks gents. I’m simply going to stick with using ambient temp and be careful to avoid creating extreme temp differentials between stored ammo and ambient temp. There are too many other variables at play (and too much f*ck around involved) to justify otherwise. Being a bit of a simpleton, I’m...
Caught this on YT
Todd Hodnett indicating that to accurately utilise MV temp function in AB Kestrel, shooter needs to ascertain temp of ammo itself, not the ambient/air temp? Is this correct?
If so, I’ve been doing it wrong...
Looking for feedback from recent purchasers of Whidden reloading dies.
Have read a few threads on this and other forums that indicate they continue to be a bit hit and miss in a QC sense. I’ve bought and subsequently got rid of Whidden dies in 22-250...
Sounds like you’ve eliminated that variable. You might then consider that if you’re getting a slight ‘crunch’ to check your loaded round OALs after you’ve seated bullets and perhaps a couple of days after. If you’ve got a compressed load and reasonably light neck tension with necks that were...
You might consider percentage of case fill you’re getting from your chosen powder/charge. I’ve found more variability in ES/SD where the case volume to fill ratio is lower. Not sure what powder you’re using but your cartridge might lend itself to trying a slower powder that fills more of the...
A couple of related practices spring to mind - putting a little rosin powder on the inside of the rings to help avoid slip. I also saw a video recently where the guys bedded the scope into the rings using 2-part epoxy and release agent on the scope. The latter is not something I’d do - but I do...
I think the IOS you’re running may be out of date for the app, which Crazy Ivan keeps doing development work on - the most recent upgrade may have been the final straw in that sense.
Maybe try upgrading to latest IOS and try again? Could be time for a new phone?
Some time ago, I went through a ‘form slump’ which involved me missing high on live animals (we do a lot of Fox culling down here in Australia). I simply didn’t understand why. Checked everything many times over. Nothing wrong with rifle, optic or load. Good trigger press, at bottom of resp...
