Rifle Scopes What $500-ish mil/mil 4-16x with decent glass?

Isn't that what the Ares is all about? A slight step up, incl. illum.

    Anschutz or Vudoo?

Anschutz AND Vudoo. There, I fixed it for you. Like others have mentioned, figure out your requirements, discipline(s) you plan to shoot, and what rules may create issue. Anschutz ruled the range for many years and still does in many disciplines. What we are experiencing now is a renaissance...

    Gunsmithing Need help, Remington 742

Here's a bunch of exploded parts views of 742's and even some Uncle Mike's sling swivel knobs like you have. Maybe that can help reconcile your parts and pieces. Exploded View 742 Particularly un-busy exploded view

    Help choosing ultrasonic cleaner

I have had a 3L ($75) from Amazon for two years now. I keep it filled with water and use glass (not plastic) containers for the parts and solvents. I use Lucas Extreme Duty Bore Solvent & Ultrasonic Gun Cleaner a lot and it does a good job with my rimfire can, but probably not a good as a...

    What's it Worth?

In New Zealand, probably 6 kiwis and 4 or 5 brushtail possums. 🐗 Seriously though, tough call. I don't see many prices out there for comps and you would know better than most on here what the "scene" is like down there for popularity and availability.

    REM 700 bolt lever?

☝️This is why I am selling three Rem 700 barreled actions.

Bergara vs a Voodoo or Zermatt

I agree with Whitney, if you are already questioning, you won't stop until you have a Vudoo or RimX. I went different route when Bergara first offered a barreled action. I ordered a steel-barreled Bergara and spec'ed it out like it was a Vudoo or RimX. My reasoning was that if I was...

    Sightron Sii question

Yup, lots of new optics. Make sure you look around their sample list. It is full of used/demo/etc. The link to the sample list is not too obvious. Home page, very top border.

    Sightron Sii question

You could always see what SWFA (SouthWestFireArms) would offer you for trade-in. It doesn't cost anything but the time to describe what you have. I did that with a SII 6-24x42 a while back and got a decent trade-in for a used Leupold MK4. They may low-ball you, though. They did this on a Meopta...

    Optic for 22 trainer/NRL

If I already had 3-18 on top of my rig, I would not hesitate to take it to a match. If I am buying a scope with intent to take it to a match, I want up to 25x (give or take). Do I need it for 100m matches, no. Do I want it for the sadistic 300m+ matches and stretching out on the ranch, yup. I...

New guy, check my buying list!

The Howa set up isn't bad, but neither is a Tikka or Bergara. You are splitting hairs at that price point. I would hold off on the Harris and save for at least an Atlas bipod. Yes, Harris has been around forever and everyone has one, but most are gathering dust as back ups. I would argue most...

    Optic for 22 trainer/NRL

Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the scopes mentioned in this thread. Others in this price point, US Optics, Bushnell Match Pro, Burris. At this point, you can spilt hairs on which reticle you prefer, weight, aesthetics, or possible discounts. Maybe the most important, who has what in...

Best options for an entry level shooter who wants gear to grow into

Many are available via Expertvoice.com Bushnell, Leupold, Nightforce, and Meopta are available through their own sales departments. I am sure there are others, it never hurts to ask. As a curtesy and usually stated as a disenrolling offense, please keep actual discount amounts and prices to...

    Sightron Sii question

I would think rimfire benchrest. Try Rimfire Central.

    Bergara B14R questions

Your situation fits right on with my carbon vs. steel philosophy. Those of smaller build will probably benefit from the weight and balance of the carbon barrels and larger folks will benefit from the extra weight (especially out front) of the steel. It is a matter of being relative to. I can...

SOLD SOLD SOLD: Bushnell Forge 15x56 Binoculars - Excellent Condition

If you are on the fence, don't be! Unless you luck into some SLC's, these will happily get the job done. I bought a pair of Forge's two years ago as a stop-gap until I bought some SLC's. I keep sliding that purchase out because I just have not had the need for that jump yet. Every rimfire match...

    Bolt gun for the wife

My ex settled on a Remington Model 7 Youth in 7mm-08. That worked great for her in MT for antelope, whitetail, and mulies. I had total confidence that the 150gr Nosler Partition loads I cooked up would drop elk or black bear. I mounted a Burris fixed 6x. Light, plenty of FOV, but very K.I.S.S...

Howa .22LR M1100 with Walnut Stock

Sounds like you have already done your homework on this. My only suggestion is to try and inspect the wood, cherry pick from an inventory, or offer a seller $20 or so for hand-picked wood.

    Need scope recommendations 15-25yd precision

If I were building up rifles to coach youth groups, I would reach out to a couple of company reps and see what they could do to help. The Bushnell Match Pro 6-24x50 would be a good option (10yrd parallax) and who knows, they may like what you are up to and help out.

    Rimfire Scope - $2500 Budget

I think used Kahles is one of the best values out there. I wouldn't pay MSRP, but at the $2500 price point, the K525i is a great value. I would also like to give the new XTR Pro a workout, it is supposed to be a beast in price range.
