    I agree with @Birddog6424 . The highest I've gone, for shooting a mile, was about 12x. Above that, the mirage became too bad. I probably won't buy anything higher than 25x.

    @diderr The March Shorty 1-10x24 is only 17.8 ounces, and 8.4 inches long, so it would be great for a recce rifle. It has a parallax adjustment knob, and the turrets could easily be used with the turret caps removed, if you plan to dial for elevation. Here's a used one...

    @Makeshift Mando , I notice that the VCOG is 1-8x28, while most of the competition is 1-8x24. Are you able to discern any difference with the 4mm difference in objective lens?

    That looks really nice. If i had to guess, the VCOG might be the most durable LPVO of all, due to the integrated mount and the construction.
