    Catastrophic Failure

Wow. Scary stuff for sure. OP, welcome to the Hide. Glad you are mostly okay. Could have ended very badly for you. I give you a lot of credit for the way you are handling this too. We all look forward to more information when you are able to share. I think most shops test a round or two...

    Kaboom at Manatee today!

Thanks for sharing. Those are some scary looking pictures for sure. This is a good reminder to always wear eye protection! I know I am sometimes guilty of touching off a few rounds without the glasses. Hate to admit that, but it is the truth. So, thanks for the reminder! Glad everyone is...

Cool pics, Jim. Thanks for sharing.

2013 Steel City Precision Rifle Challenge - Birmingham, AL

You were 16th, brother. AWESOME finish and even more impressive when you factor in the equipment issues Dave Walker told me you were having. I'll try to post up the pic I took later. Mark Well, beat to the punch. LOL. At least scores are posted now.

2013 Steel City Precision Rifle Challenge - Birmingham, AL

I thoroughly enjoyed being able to help on Area 4. What a great crew! Thanks to the match organizers and all the staff who helped. Thanks to all the shooters who came out with positive attitudes to have a safe, fun experience. I didn't hear or see anyone complain about anything. That...

I've been had! A tip of the hat to OGonzalez13!

You guys have to know Omar. He is a great dude with an awesome sense of humor. He can dish it out but can take it too. Mark

    6.5 CM or 260 Rem

I went 6.5 CM. I don't have time to re-load and frankly don't enjoy it. I'd rather spend that time with my 1-year old daughter and her beautiful mother. The Hornady 140-grain A-Max load is outstanding for factory ammo. The .260 factory stuff is more expensive. Thus, I went 6.5CM and...

LOL. I'd still be passed out on the floor. Mark

    Tripod Shooting- Saddles vs Clamps

Great video, Frank! Very helpful. Do any 'Hide vendors stock the Manfrotto? I would rather support community folks instead of buying from Amazon or something like that. Mark

    Suppressors Ops inc

Good luck with that. Trust me, call Ron Allen from Allen Engineering. He built all the Ops Stuff. If you want the same high quality (my favorite!) products as Ops just with the actual MFG name on the product, call Ron. If you want Ops Inc going forward, like I said, good luck with that. Mark

2013 Ft Benning International Sniper competition - results/AAR anyone?

We were there for the last day of the competition on Friday. Because of the stupid government shutdown, the whole competition was kind of "unofficial". It was almost scrapped but with all the foreign teams planning to go, they still held the match. There were seventeen teams there. Several US...

You just don't see rifles like this too often...

I've had a very long and, frankly, stressful day. So, figured I'd try to end on a positive by sharing pictures of one of the coolest rifles I've ever gotten to put my hands on. These pictures don't do it any justice either. I am too tired to write up the details, so I'll do that later. But...

6.5 Creedmoor Blown Primer.... Stiller Action, Factory ammo.

Scott, we've shot a lot of rounds of the 140-grain Hornady stuff in lots of different rifles over the past three years. We had a batch two years ago that was a bit inconsistent but never encountered anything hot as you described. Every ammo MFG will occasionally have something less than...

    Manners Mini Chasis Question

Skim bed it. Mine improved greatly with skim bedding. Shot solid .75" groups at 100-yards before skimming. After skimming my first five shot group was under .320" and that was with me throwing one. It will hold in the .3s all day long. Caliber is a 6.5CM. Mark

2013 Steel City Precision Rifle Challenge - Birmingham, AL

That means a lot, Todd. Appreciate the kind words greatly. There are a lot of good matches in this SE region. We've supported other matches usually with gift certificates for labor. We're in a pretty thin margin business and coming out of pocket for parts hits the wallet hard. But we've...

2013 Steel City Precision Rifle Challenge - Birmingham, AL

Thank YOU, David and Jim. We're all looking forward to this match. This is the rifle we built for the donation table. We have built some similar rifles that have all not only looked great but performed outstandingly well. So, here ya go... Details: Stiller TAC30 action with 20-MOA...

Barrel burned out, who should re-barrel?

We've got Bartlein barrels on the shelf. But Robert Gradous would do a heck of a great job for you. If you've never had work done by Robert, this would be a great chance. So would John Whidden or Jered at APA if you wanted two other local options. Mark Gordon at SAC does great work and I'd...
