New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
Sight scale is the correction factor for deviations in the magnitude of your rifle scopes adjustments. This is for situations such as when your reticle moves 9.9 mils when your turret moves 10.0. This sort of deviation is quite common and this setting allows it to be totally compensated for...
Your question on wind meter read wind integrated with DoF is an interesting one. When looking at the Leica Pro's and Sig 10k's I did not examine them in external ballistics mode though both have a mode for this in order to pair with Kestrel's and utilize its calculator. I am not sure if they...
Update 10/11/2022
Sig BDX 2.0 system and Sierra6 BDX 3-18x44 review is up. This review also contains some background on the SmartScope concept in general. I am pretty impressed with how effectively this system can get a user without significant knowledge of ballistics on target using just the...
Update 10/10/2022
I was doing some writing today on the Sightron SIII FFP 6-24x50 PLR review and noticed it is currently on sale for $350 off making it $1,119.99. It seems unlikely to me that it will still be on that sale at the time the review is posted as the review is sitting behind another...
I think all the current Kelbly actions are using Sako extractors. However, this was a change made just a couple years ago. Prior to that I believe they all had the sliding plate style.
The 10k's I'm testing are still on the first battery. Lots of ranging and still going. I think you probably have an issue where the battery is slowly draining when the unit is not in use. Try taking the battery out whenever the unit is not in use. See how long a battery lasts then.
Communication between the 10k and BaseMap is slllloooowwww as Joe Biden when the media asks him a question. If you just wait 30sec or so without getting impatient and pushing buttons it will show up. Not sure what is up with it as it isn't always that slow, but sometimes it is. Give it a try...
Update 10/4/2022
The bug in the Muzzle Velocity truing function in the Sig BDX app has been corrected. Note: On existing ballistic profiles you must trick the binos into genuinely updating the profile for the fix to work. This means changing something major in the profile, syncing it, changing...
I would love to try a reticle with nothing at all above center on a scope with really good glass sometime to see how it did with trace. I feel like it would be awesome. Everything I have has at least 2 mils above though....
I voted MPCT1 with my wallet as well.
Lately, I have been appreciating more open reticles in order to better see impacts on target and trace. In the case of the .22lr, not so much trace as the actual bullet in flight. The better the glass, the more I feel this way as you get more benefit of...
My understanding is that nothing in the on board calculation engine of the 3200's can be changed. That capability is just not in the hardware.
Regarding the migration to the new app: I do believe an improvement in bluetooth range and stability is expected. This was evidently something the...
The Sightron SIII PLR 6-24x50 FFP I am reviewing right now fits your bill well. This is the same optical platform as the SIII mil-mil FFP I reviewed a few years back but with massively improved turrets. They are now 10mil / turn and have a zero stop. They also have a really great feel. Very...
Update 9-15-2022
The Sightron SIII 6-24x50 PLR FFP scope arrived yesterday. I'm excited about this as the previous SIII 6-24x50 ffp that I reviewed three years ago has continued to impress me, optically since that time. It has proven particularly resistant to having any issues in poor lighting...
I must have miss spoken. You need to use the app to true your ballistic data. You just do not need to be connected to the binos when you do it. You can true using existing field data that you have from past range sessions.
Yes, while the binos are connected you can get to the range and target cards. Sig has chosen to put both of these on the live ranging screen. When not connected a notice of non-connection pops up and can't be dismissed. This effectively blocks you from using any of the options on that screen...
A Short(ish) discussion of the merits of Leica Geovid Pro 32's vs Sig Kilo 10K - HDs
A number of folks have been interested in comparing the Sig Kilo 10k's with the Leica Geovid pro's since the release of these two new flagship products. Quite frankly, I think the consumer is right here in...

Update 9-1-202
The Sig Kilo10k-ABS HD laser rangefinding binoculars review is done and posted. Good heavens these things range a long way. I managed to range a not so heavy person out to 2,100yds. That is just crazy. I may write a short comparison between the Leica Geovid Pros and these Sig...
