Ammo selection for a RimX/Proof build...not competing with it

Eley Contact has been a great hunting/plinking round for me. https://www.killoughshootingsports.com/22lr-ammunition-c4/eley-contact-22lr-subsonic-42g-rimfire-cartridges-p33 I saw Womfat from YouTube joke that it's the 338 Lapua of the 22 LR world... :ROFLMAO: YMMV, happy shooting

    Newby looking for opinions

Sound advice above. I'll add: what do you want to do with your rifle and how well does it shoot? If you want to shoot NRL22 it probably is fine as long as it is balanced and shoots .3" groups at 50 yds and 1" groups at 100 yds. Also, I love the reliability of the CZ magazine feeding system...

    Stubborn Fouling on Baffles

Some people have a conniption over CLR but I put my TBAC 22 TD baffles in a small tub of CLR for a hour then brush it off with a wire brush. As long as it is bubbling with the carbon, I keep using it. When it is time to recycle, I recycle it with my old motor oil at my local Autozone. YMMV...

    NRL22 Hunter style matches?

SE Ohio Rimfire Sniper Challenge on Practiscore. Looks similar to the Gap Grind. The Tactical Division will have at least one shooter with a semi-auto 22LR. Open Division no restriction on semi-auto or bolt gun. Sound like a lot of fun...

    NRL22 Hunter style matches?

NRL22 Hunter and NRL22X matches in WY? Do you have to hold more wind than elevation? I bet it gets sporty! I hope that these field style 22 completion games start to become popular.

    NRL22 Hunter style matches?

SH has some amazing resources. I found the link for the Areana Hunter like 22LR match from last year, but no announcement yet for this year. https://arenatrainingfacility.com/event/christians-touch-rimfire-in-the-arena-match/ I'll have to stalk their website and see. Found the Muddy Creek...

    NRL22 Hunter style matches?

I really enjoy the NRL Hunter matches. It's not as grueling as full on field matches like Mammoth but mixes in some field elements to make it practical. What I don't like about NRL Hunter matches is loading ammo, looking for your brass after each stage, and not as many events as NRL22 and NRL22X...

Great shooting! I've been humbled quite a few times by how difficult mini palma shooting can be. What class did you shoot in and what was your front/rear support? Thanks for sharing.

    B-14 Heavy Barreled Action

My personal experience/opinion so take it with a grain of salt. The steel barreled B14Rs shoot well with most ammo but great but great with lot tested ammo. Kenny at DPG builds excellent CZs, Bergaras, RimX, Voodoos but guarantees 0.3" for 5 shot groups at 50. Some may scoff at 0.3" but for...

Balancing Bergara B-14R in KRG X-Ray or MDT XRS

I personally have not but I've seen some competitors in my local area with it but a competent gunsmith with access to a lathe should be able to do it pretty simple. Talking to others, it was ~$100. Recommend using fishing weights tied to the end of the barrel to estimate how much brass stock...

Balancing Bergara B-14R in KRG X-Ray or MDT XRS

IMHO drilled and threaded brass rod is the best bang for your $... and you can color it black to make it look like a suppressor and give off false pretenses that you are a noob running a suppressor in rimfire matches. For smaller balance needs, I found the Cole Tac Backbone Bag frame with the...

Balancing Bergara B-14R in KRG X-Ray or MDT XRS

For those starting off on balancing the stock B14r barreled action, get the stainless steel version. It is only a few inches longer but every bit counts. KRG Bravo is a good option because it is very light, especially the back end. To the OP, suggest trying the following before going for a...

    Rimfire specific match checklist

Edited to add: Pre-Stage Checklist 1. Arrive at least 30 minutes early and acclimate the rifle to the temperature for at least 30 minutes before confirming zero 2. Help set up, "volunteer" to help get distances if you have a range finder Possible future testing: I've not had a cold bore shift...
